Parisian-raised and from a family of painters and musicians, Tucson resident Naïm Amor enlisted the producing skills of Calexico's Joey Burns for his 2007 album "Sanguine", a mature, French odd pop album recorded with both Burns and his drummer John Convertino. It was briefly released on Universal/Atmospheriques in France.
In 2008, Naïm opened for Grammy Awards singer Tift Merritt, and promoted the release of a 10" vinyl through UK label Orchestra Pit with shows in London and Paris.
Naim's first album, "Mistake Love", was produced by John Parish in 2004, with musicians Tasha Bundy and Nathan Sabatino, and lyrics by Marianne Dissard.
In addition to his "singing" albums, Naim is also recording an ongoing series of instrumental albums: "Soundtracks: Volume One" (FilmGuerrero, 2002) and "Soundtracks: Volume Two" (Howe Gelb's OWOM Records, 2004). The press loved those: "superbly crafted collection", "a seriously inspirational masterstroke that we'd all be fools to miss out on", "simply ear candy that deserves to be heard"!
From 1997 to 2001, Naim Amor's previous incarnation, Amor Belhom Duo, with drummer Thomas Belhom, saw him collaborate with Calexico (2001 album "ABBC/Tête à Tête"), release three albums ("Amor Belhom Duo s/t", "Wavelab" and "Live In Tucson" with Valérie Leulliot) on Carrot Top Rec. (N. America), Saidera (Japan) and Ici D'Ailleurs (Europe) and a handful of 7inch vinyls, and tour the US and Europe opening for Miossec, Handsome Family, Calla, David Grubbs, Calexico, Giant Sand...
Naim has composed for Francoiz Breut and Marianne Dissard and recorded with Devotchka, Valérie Leulliot, Marie Frank, Howe Gelb, Calexico, Marianne Dissard, Pieta Brown, Cordero, Sammy Decoster, Tom Walbank, Al Foul, John Convertino...
