Her voice is often described as Too big for her small body. Her vocal range reaches up to the heavens. And she sings with a soul that anyone can see, comes from deep down within.
Najibah is a 24 year old Diva in the making, born and raised in Northeast Washington, DC. The intricate live rhythms of Go-Go Music- the soul of Gospel Music- and the R&B grooves of the 80s and 90s ignited her love for music. She lists Michael Jackson, Chaka Kahn, Mint Condition, Stephanie Mills, Patti Labelle, Yolanda Adams and Shirley Murdock as her greatest influences.
She was first introduced to music by her grandmother who enrolled her in classical piano lessons and the junior choir at the Episcopal Church of Atonement. She later developed an ear for good music, taking Gospel Chorus as an elective class in junior high school. Her other childhood hobbies included Ballet, Tap and Jazz dancing, Modeling and Athletics. But her singing didnt come to the forefront until her college years. Straight out of high school, Najibah embarked on a career in Business. She attended Pace University in Manhattan, New York, where she completed her Bachelors of Business Administration in 2003. However, deep down she always knew there had to be something more fulfilling than the corporate world she was preparing for. Extensive soul searching led her to aggressively pursue a singing career. She always loved to sing as she does today. All she needed was a little training and perseverance. She Attended vocal training and sang at Open Mics whenever she could find time away from her studies. She has also won various talent competitions including 1st Place in the Amateur Night show at the world famous Apollo Theater. The song that won the audience over was Ease the Pain by Lisa Fisher. Her amazing vocal talent was also recognized by Weekend Vibe on Fox 5, where she was invited to appear as a featured unknown artist.
Najibah desires to become a complete artist. She writes songs, arranges melodies and harmonies, and is currently studying production in her leisure time. She continues to nurture her passion for music and the arts and is determined to follow her dream to become one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
