2009 marks NAKED LUNCH's eleventh year of performing their tribute to the music of Steely Dan. Audiences continue to be amazed at how they are able to meticulously conjure the spirit of the Dan recordings while maintaining their own unintrusive musical imprint. Over the years, they've been joined live and/or in the studio by the likes of such esteemed Steely Dan alumni as Chuck Rainey, Bernard Purdie, Jim Keltner, Dean Parks, Denny Dias, Elliott Randall, Sherlie Matthews, Clydie King, "Blue Lou" Marini, and Roger Nichols. They've made television appearances on WFAA's Good Morning Texas and Fox 4's Good Day Dallas, as well as radio appearances on The Hardline on Dallas Sports Radio 1310 AM (The Ticket). Played dozens of festivals, summer concert series shows, and major corporate events. Hosted multiple DANFEST'S and were even awarded the 2001-2003 DANNY AWARD for BEST STEELY DAN TRIBUTE BAND IN AMERICA. This award is bestowed upon the group that is voted "best" by over 2,500 hardcore Steely Dan fans polled across the United States. The award was presented in New York City.
NAKED LUNCH has released their first full length cd, DARK COMPANIONS. Featuring 12 classic Steely Dan songs, the project was aided by the assistance of two of Steely Dan's most important contributors - ROGER NICHOLS and CHUCK RAINEY. As chief engineer of all Steely Dan recordings, ROGER NICHOLS is definitely the authority on Steely Dan's sound. We are very fortunate and thankful to have him bring that insight and expertise to the mastering process of DARK COMPANIONS. On the performance side, bass legend CHUCK RAINEY holds the distinct honor of being the studio musician to have played on more Steely Dan songs than any other. We are equally fortunate and thankful to have his masterful groove contribution to "Kid Charlemagne".
