23 years ago NALEDi was born in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana, Africa... the very same night that Halley's Comet arrived. The local village women gave her the name Naledi (pronounced Nah-Lady), which means "star" because there is no word for "comet" in their language. NALEDi is a registered Trademark. NALEDi was 3 years old when she knew that she wanted to be a singer... and 7 years old when she wrote her very first song.
As a British/American dual-citizen she grew up 1/2 an all American girl on a chicken farm in Texas, and 1/2 a Cosmopolitan girl traveling the World. For musicians, all roads lead to Memphis, Tennessee (the home of the Blues and the birthplace of Rock and Roll) and NALEDi was 15 years old when she accidentally stumbled into this city. It must not have been an accident after all, because it was here that she "found" herself and decided once and for all to follow her heart and be a Singer-Songwriter.
She released her first full length album "... in the rain" when she was 17 years old living in Austin, Texas. This album contained songs she had written when she was 15-17 years old - and her first time in a professional recording studio at sweet 16 she described as 'Heavenly.'
At 19 years old NALEDi moved to Nashville, Tennessee. During her first 6 months in Music City, NALEDi recorded a 4 song demo with local musicians produced by trumpet legend, Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns.
A square peg in a round hole, NALEDi has never let herself or her music be put in a box with a label. She has written pop, country, blues-y and world songs in multiple languages, and even sung harmonies on a hip-hop album.
A humanitarian at heart, she has always been passionate about using her music to make a positive difference in the world and charity is a priority in her career which she hopes will one day lead her to found her own charity or to serve as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations.
Often called a "Renaissance woman" NALEDi is not only a prolific songwriter, she has also worked professionally as an Abstract Oil Painter & a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist specialized in Pregnancy and Equine. She loves ballroom dancing, swimming, horseback riding & studying Science.. and is in the process of writing several books and self-producing her next album due out February 2010.
Currently on hiatus from the music industry to focus on her health (fighting a daily battle in a 10 year war against a debilitating disease) NALEDi is grateful for your constant support and this opportunity to continue sharing her music with you.
Sincerely, NALEDiLiGHT PRODUCTiONS
