I am a Chicago native, the author of Essence & Black Expressions Bestseller Every Woman Needs a Wife (Strebor/Simon & Schuster), co-author of Speak it into Existence with Sesvalah (Macro Publishing Group). My son, J. L. Woodson (that handsome young man you see in my slideshow), is a 2007 NAACP Image Award Nominee for Outstanding Literary Work (Youth/Teens) and the author of Superwoman's Child: Son of a Single Mother and The Things I Could Tell You!
