Cutting his teeth in clubs of the southeast in both solo acoustic and full band settings, singer/songwriter Jeff Lucero forged together the band Namedropper. Based out of Columbia, South Carolina, the band who gets their "tongue in cheek" name from a photo montage of newspaper headlines, features Lucero's unique ranging vocals along with his soaring lead guitar and unforgettable melodies.
"The concept of a band is always what I was going for" explained Lucero. "But I've also tried to cater to what the music calls for. I don't mind getting head deep in the all the aspects that go into recording and songwriting. I have a vision of what a song sounds like in my head when I'm working on it, and I just try to paint the colors and picture accordingly." This certainly is true, as the latest studio recordings feature, not only his vocals and guitar work, but also drums and bass while engineering, producing, and mixing the music entirely on his own.
In addition to their homestead, Namedropper has also gained a loyal following online through the strength of their recorded efforts. The band has shared the stage with many national as well as dozens of regional/local groups while performing in front of thousands. Touring extensively in the southeast, they have played several marquee shows, including the House of Blues, 3 Rivers Music Festival, and Ft. Jackson's Hilton Field and have earned a reputation for being a solid live outfit, energetic and diverse, mixing in all out rock performances with acoustic sets. Drummer Darron Williams and Bassist Clint Meyer bring a new dimension to the band’s live sets.
"I love to work out different versions of the studio songs when we play live, be it a stripped down acoustic or the full electric band setup, to be able to expand on something created in the studio environment while still maintaining the song’s integrity. Keeping an open mind and jamming out songs a bit can be very cool. Change and variety are good things." says Lucero.
Indeed you hear it in their music. From drop dead gorgeous ballads, to dark melodic rock songs, to acoustic sing & strum alongs... Namedropper isn't content to sound like every other band.
