Kia ora Paul,
Thanks kindly for indulging my questions, you are a music lover & musician's dream :) Nameless Sons had the honour of compelling me to make my first ever online music purchase last week, and I've been enjoying the fruits of that since. Thrashing Forgive/Forget up the beach each night at sunset! Your music connects beautifully with the ocean and the wide open skies here. I was also compelled to buy the Gramsci tracks you have on your Gramsci MySpace, couldn't leave them alone, and have been swimming in those with great joy too. Magnificent music! Now your solo material beckons as well ... such richness, a treasure trove of inspiration that is opening me to new aspects of myself, of music, and of life. I've lost count of the number of times I've cried listening to your songs, a sign of how deeply they move me, and not one that happens all that often.
Thank you so much for doing what you do, it is a true gift to me, and to all of us who listen :)
How do the hungry get their hands on This Boy? Will you be making that available for download? If not, fancy a back alley music transaction?? :D
Also, is there any way I can get a copy of Don't, with Anika? I have just discovered that too and have that feeling I can't live without it (though I accept I may have to, as it was released a while ago now).
Love your stuff Nameless Sons always. Anyways , here the new single from the new ATONE ALBUM "LIVE AND LOVE YOUR LIFE" on vocals, the great late ALI OMAR. I love you to take a little time out and have a listen to see what you think. The video was made by the brilliant DAS BERLIN KOLLEKTIVE,

thks and take it easy.
Thanks for the kind words :) It's a completely live take recorded straight to tape through an old Neve desk that was used to record Who's Next. No click and no editing, just myself, Andy Park on bass and Mal Blake on drums. We played it 3 times and took the 2nd take. It was recorded at Roundhead Studios in Auckland on August 29th by Neil Baldock who also mixed it that same day to half inch tape. It was mastered by Chris Chetland. The idea is to record and release a new single every 3 months, choosing our favourite song of the moment but always recording the songs live as one performance. The majority of music that we love was recorded that way and there is something to the energy of a band capturing their actual performance that can't be re-created any other way. To our minds and ears anyway... Thanks for listening.
Kia ora Paul & the Sons,
I cannot find the words to describe how much I love Forgive/Forget!! I've already ranted away on your Facebook page, so I'll hold myself back here :)
I really love the sound too, the way everything is so big and alive, and leaps right out of the speakers in all the right ways. Delicious!! I heard it was recorded live to tape ... fantastic!!
Would you mind sharing who did what and where for production, mixing and mastering? I would love to know.
P.s - because of this song, I've finally explored Gramsci and your solo work Paul, and OH MY GOD, where have I been all these years??? I am completely blown away. This is some of the most amazing music I have ever heard ... and Paul, your voice has got to be the best male voice I have heard in NZ and has immediately become one of my favourite male voices of all.
I would give my eye teeth to play with a musician of your passion, soul and emotion. I hope Fate will give me the opportunity to do so one day. You are absolutely inspiring xxx
Thanks for the add Snoz!!
the aimless ones. I can dig it.
