Namesake (for the sake of His name) started life as a group of musician friends coming together to ‘informally’ rehearse the original material of singer/guitarist, John Taylor.
Then after being asked to perform at a friend’s 50th birthday party, Namesake (then unnamed) performed for the first time in public, playing a variety of standard (and some not-so-standard) cover songs, but with the band’s own funky style and energy. A handful of John’s (at that stage very green) original songs were also performed.
The guests loved what they heard, and the band had a ball.
“We had lots of fun and enjoy each other’s company, and here we are 3 years later with a CD in the can, and more on the way. Such a buzz to go away inspired and challenged. We all live very busy lives and the instruments don’t always get the attention they deserve, but somehow we still make an interesting sound that is enjoyed across a wide audience.” John said.
Now that the CD is done, and the launch is over, the main focus for Namesake is to get out and perform. To take the message to who ever will listen.
And of course to keep writing and recording new material.
…. And what is in store for Namesake after that? Well, only God knows the answer to that question.

The new year is full of opportunity and challenge. One thing that helps us is to remember that true freedom is about what we decide not to do more than what we decide to do.
Soul Waiver wants to encourage you to do the right the thing and focus your eyes on what really matters. That is the message of our music.
We don't know what that means for you specifically in your life right now, but if you listen to our songs we hope you feel the awe and wonder that comes when we open our hearts to the Herald of True Happiness.
