"This is a sincere and genuine album of songs devoid of contrivance. An artist who should be seen as a beacon for future folkies"

"Wrought Iron is a record of subtle beauty – it’s subdued yet immediate, for every Tori Amos there’s a PJ Harvey and, Nancy Elizabeth could just be of the same lineage. She’s haunting, ethereal and totally compelling, everything a singer-songwriter should be; if you hear this record and you don’t like it frankly, you’re not worth knowing."

Nancy Elizabeth’s second album Wrought Iron feels almost pitch perfect for the current transition from the end of this pseudo-summer into the reality of October, as the sunny afternoons bleed almost imperceptibly through into a sudden autumnal crash” Drowned in sound
“The best thing to come out of Wigan since Poole's pies” boomkat
Manchester dwelling musician, born and brought up in the beautiful rolling landscape of Wigan, Nancy Elizabeth is a lover and creator of songs and instrumental music.
The first release was an E.P. called ‘The Wheel Turning King’, which came out on Manchester label, Timbreland.
That led to her hiring a cottage in the middle of nowhere, where she created her first album ‘Battle and Victory’. This was released by The Leaf Label in October 2007. She has toured across Europe (and Mexico), laden with instruments, playing her music. Recently, North Wales saw her recording her second album, which is due out in September.
In between touring and working on her own music, she has played with James Yorkston on a few albums, as well as collaborating with Japanese sound artist Susuma Yokota on his recent release ‘Mother’, along with other things.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
