About Nancy Silva Project (ScoutSA 7-17 Warehouse 7-18)
Nancy Silva Project (Nsp) is a 3-piece fronted by Nancy Silva on vocals/guitar, Jesse Avila on drums and new addition Joel (Diablo) Martinez on bass. The band was formed by in 2006 and is based out of Texas. Nsp music is best described as pop-rock with a heavy-edge and melodic vocals. Nancy's shy charismatic personality, melodic voice, heavy guitar sound, backed by a solid rhythm section, give Nsp an original and unique sound and stage presence. Taught by her brother, Nancy began playing guitar and performing at a very young age.
Nancy spent the better part of 2006 writing and arranging her ideas. The songs are about life and relationships which everyone and anyone can relate to. The band completed their 5-song demo in February 2007. The tracks are Don’t Tell Me, Letting Go, Long Way Down, Run Away and Mental Hopscotch, originally done by Missing Persons.
In August 2007, Nsp headed out on the road on a west coast tour. Starting the tour off at the world famous Whisky A GoGo on the legendary Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California. Next performing at The Cat Club owned by famed Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats. The tour continued thru southern California and ended with two final shows in Las Vegas, Nevada. The response of the tour was extremely positive.
Nsp has opened for numerous national acts such as 10 Years, Ryan Cabrera, Flyleaf, Chevelle and Lit.
For one to fully experience Nsp music, you must see them live…their live performance is powerful and full of emotion. “We want to play as much as possible so that people can hear our music all over the world. There’s nothing better than the feeling of playing live and making new friends and fans. We are very thankful for everyone’s support and the success we have had so far.”
The band is currently working on new material and their new album will be out Summer of 2009. Nsp is also in the planning stages of another tour.
