Since forming in 2005 the Nancy Wha has done what a good band should. The Nancy Wha has had national as well as independent radio airplay both in Finland and Sweden, has built a reputation as a full-throttle, chaotic live band and taken the stage at the Finnish music business annual get-together. And the press has loved them every step of the way.
Many bands would be happy with a rear-view like that.
The Nancy Wha isn’t even thinking about looking back.
The Nancy Wha is currently working on their debut ep. Recording and mixing is done, mastering and artwork is ahead. The songs continue the tradition of energetic, simplistic rock that has defined the Nancy Wha. Expect a release in early 2010. Juha Kyyrö, president of Fullsteam Records, has called the band's music "American-style indie rock with British attitude." The imaginative thievery from 70s punk and turn of the millennium indie rock has had fans comparing them to the Clash, the Strokes and the Buzzcocks. Gordon Raphael simply call their music 'excellent'.
Their single Waltz of Shame/Dealers and Drunks was reviewed as "having me jumping off my seat" by Otto Kylmälä on desibeli.net. Please, don't sit while listening. www.mysellabandlife.de described the music of the Nancy Wha as "absolut genialen Rock".
The tumultuous live performances of the band have venues continuously asking them to return. The band received great reviews from the indie magazine Rumba for their appearance at the Lost in Music Festival 2007. At the Jyrock festival 2009 Perttu Kantonen (noise.fi) described their performance as "one of the most positive surprises... Hellishly good... Merciless, contagious, non-stop rock'n'roll."
The Helsinki-based quintet was formed in 2005 during an impromptu Jacuzzi-session on a night ending in an altercation with not so liberal-minded morons. The band decided to leg it, and somehow they've never split up. Now, though, it is love more than hate that keeps the Nancy Wha together.

"Kauniita melodioita, tummia sävyjä, kimallusta ja hypnoottinen naislaulu – mainiot ainekset oivalliseen kuuntelunautintoon." Noise.fi / Ville Kuitunen
