Nantucket's Debut Stands the Test of Time,
Reviewer: blaine (Tampa, Florida) from amazon.com
You've heard the story countless times. Local band works hard for record deal with major label. Tours endlessly and has great following. Scores major label deal and continues to tour. Band gets "lost" in the schuffle at the record company. It has happened to many a talented band. Here is a band who's name should be on the tip of your tongue, but probably isn't.
The six member band Nantucket were (are) extremely talented. The lyrics of Tommy Redd, combined with the pounding drums of Kenny Soule make the building blocks of a great CD. Kenny Soule, by the way, would later go on to some sucess as a member of PKM and Dag.
From the opening vocals on "Heartbreaker" to the closing notes on "What's the Matter with Loving You?", there is not a dud on this now, CD. Larry Uzzell's unique voice pulls it all together.
Want more? Check out Tommy doing lead vocals on "Girl, You Blew a Good Thing" with Eddie Blair playing a killer sax.
The guys from North Carolina seemed to be on their way with the arrival of this album in 1978. Opening for the likes of AC/DC and Molly Hatchet, everyone agreed that they rocked. I am not sure why Epic never stood firmly behind the band. The music was certainly good enough and did earn some radio airplay in the southeast.
The band went on to make 2 additional albums for Epic, one for RCA and a few indies. One is available on CD and would be worth the search is "Still Live After All These Years".
If you grew up rockin' in the South in the late 70's through the early 90's, you probably saw Nantucket. Don't dismiss them as just another "Southern Rock" band. There is more to the music than that! Hopefully in the near future, the rest of their albums will be released on CD.
If you live in North Carolina, every now and then, they get together and play. You may still be lucky enough to see the guys rock, but if not, buy the CD! Maybe a few more folks will come to know and rock to Nantucket music.

Great Outdooor Concerts by Nantucket in Greenville, NC
Whenever Nantucket would play within 150 miles of Wilson, NC. My friends and I would make a road trip. Their music always puts me in a good place. Thank you Nantucket!! Even though there were just a few albums, they really made an impact in the 70's & 80's

Great to have Nantucket on CD
I've been looking for this CD for years, after a friend introduced me to the music of this band twenty years ago. Great harmony in the vocals and some cool rythyms.

Nantucket CD
Thanks for re-sending the disc to me; I assume some postal worker snagged the first one! Brought back a few memories -- Not exactly Pavarotti, but still fun! Thanks again for the great customer service --

Good time rock and roll!
Lots of electric guitar and simple lyrics. Nothing earth-shattering, it's just a fun record to listen to.

Yeah...Nantucket
I grew up in Jacksonville, N.C. and met Larry Uzzell while in Jr. High. This is a great album and took way too long to get on CD. I think Mike Uzzell dated my next door neighboor back then. Buy it.

Excellent Melodic Hard Rock
This is Nantucket's debut album from 1978. Many thanks for releasing it on cd after all this time out of print. Many people haven't heard of this excellent straight ahead rock band from Carolina, which deserves way more recognition than they have received.

Good Stuff
I dont understand why Nantucket never made it bigger than they did. Their songwriting is great, singer is awesome, and the band is tight. Really catchy songs. Drummer is really good. This is their 1st album, which is good, but the best 2 are "Long Way To the Top" and "No Direction Home" Look on Ebay for their albums on vinyl, the only way there is to get them! Also, look for the PKM album, 2 of the original members of Nantucket put out this album and it is VERY good!

so refreshing, so good, so 70'
It's such a pity that kind of music doesn't exist anymore. I really hope the other nantucket albums (specially "your face or mine") will be released on CD. A french fan.

Finally on CD
It's very rare to find an album that each song is an uptempo dandy, great lyrics & guitar work throughout. I hope their other albums will be released on CD. A must for mid seventies hard rockers

Nantucket Shows
Hooray for Nantucket on CD..I have had the vinyl since 1980's and haven't had a turntable since 1988. This band put on the best darn show ever. Saw them a few times in Radford, Va at the Depo; a medium sized Rock and Roll Bar and they were incredible. Can not believe they did not make it further. They were dead on rockers with a great sound and driving vocals. It's a Long Way to the Top if you wanna Rock and Roll...

Finally! Nantucket gets its due on CD!
FLASHBACK: "Heartbreaker you mean misery maker...Miss evil, you know you done me wrong...Heartbreaker..." If these lyrics sound remotely familiar you have found the album that was so popular to many rock fans cruisin in 1978. Finally available on CD...this reproduction does not disappoint! NANTUCKET rocks! I hope they release more NANTUCKET albums on CD.

Finally
I grew up in N.C. listening to this band. This is a local N.C. band that played all local night clubs and are great but never got that break. The band is touring N.C. night clubs again. The music is kinda souther rock beach music. It is unique. If you see these guys in a club, you will agree that they should have made the big time like ZZ top, Lynard Skynard. Their mustic is not quite so southern rock as most.

The "Best Show" around in their day
Tommy Redd was pure magic on guitar... spoon and all. Larry,Pee-Wee,Kenny were "vocals" and "back-bone" to the max. If you haven't heard this Album or never heard them "Live", you "missed-out". "Fire and Energy" was what they were. If one does not have "Nantucket" in their collection ..."You didn't listen to Rock" in the "Disco Years". The best band on the Eastern Seaboard in the Late 70's to mid 80's.

now lets get "Your Face or Mine" released!!!!!!!!!
I have the album and had the cassette. I have been waiting 15 years for this album to come out on cd. The entire album is great. I would suggest it to anyone who is into late 70s rock, with a little bluesy sound. Fantastic Vocals. I just hope that their second and third albums will be released.

This is a FANTASTIC disc.... one that should be in everyone's collection! It's aged well - sounds as fresh now as it did twenty years ago. I hope that you release the other "Nantucket" CDs soon... very soon!

It's about time!
I've waited a long time for this one to come around. Heartbreaker is a great song and it's been floating around in my head for over 20 years! The production is good, sounds great in the home and the truck (we all drive trucks in Indiana). This is a terrific debut album for Nantucket and if you remember it like I do you will want to get this one. Not a bad song on the disc. Go on get it!

Great show guys in Greensboro on the 4th of July!Had'nt seen the band since '80,and still just as good and hot!Congrats on your Charlotte Music Award for lifetime acheivement!Keep rockin'guys!
Hey guy's, thanks for adding me as a friend. I haven't heard you guy's since the late 70's early 80's. I was talking to a friend of mine a week ago and he mentioned Nantucket. I started naming songs I remembered. He didn't think I had heard of you guy's. I think you might know him, Jeff Brines? Anyway, I will definitely be trying to see you guy's live when I move to Holden Beach, NC, the end of July. Keep on ROCKIN'!!!!
I'm taking my wife and 6 year old son to the Alamance County Fair so we can see ya'll. Could you guys please play the song "Sugar Shack" at that show. I absolutley love that song. Thanks, John Wilson Pittsboro, NC
You guys are supposed to be at Alamance County Fair in Graham, N.C. next Thursday. If it don't rain, I'm definately thinking about being there. Keep on rockin' guys.
When are you guys playing next? Next time I am in NC I would love to come see you guys! Tell Tommy that me and Mickey Wetherington said, up his with a cheese grater! grin :)
Your music brings back some great 70's memories for me! You rock so rightously! I'm lookong forward to Bike Week at Myrtle Beach, SC with you guys and Mother's Finest!
After all these years, you guys still rock. During my high school years in Kannapolis N.C., Nantucket's only competition in my Chevelle SS, was Boston's "Don't Look Back". I've spent years and years looking for your music, finally I found your original CD. You may get a kick out of knowing that Nantucket now gets airtime(on my Nano) in Yokosuka Japan, home to the United States Navy's, 7th Fleet...and after 26+ years of Naval service it feels like I'm in my Chevelle again, windows down, cruising, loving life. Thanks for all that you guys do. Maybe someday we'll see you on the Armed Forces circuit! Take care, V/R Jim Cox USN Harbor Pilot
