Naomi Sunderland is part of the Brisbane-based Coffee Bean Records Independent Music Collective with other well-known Australian musicians and songwriters including Phil Graham, John Barns, Les Foyle, Peter Willersdorf, Vicki Vanderent, and Tim Gaze.
Sunderland’s songwriting and performance style is a natural fusion of folk, alternative, and jazz. She moonlights as a drummer in the Brisbane-based instrumental line-up Wild Turkey Trio.
Sunderland's debut album, Red Dirt Road was a powerful album that combined all the elements of the “new folk” movement emerging in Brisbane. Her new album "Stitches" explores the softer side of Naomi's music. It is due for release in March 2009.
Haha. Mmm. I check it out. So glad we have the mulberry tree... and slow possums. Coolum... mmm. Haven't been there in ages it feels like. We should go down for the day or something... The chewing gum give the photo's character, no? Haha. And i thought I hid it so well...
I think everyone gets caught up in the quantity of friends they can compile rather than actually sharing, thought, ideas and music. But then I'd rather be dead than unpopular! :)
Hi Naomi, thanks for your message. The albums coming along well thanks. Should be finished in December. We are releasing an EP single kind of thing next month cos a few stations want to play "Favourite songs" so yeah, going really well. Hope U R too... Cheers, Doug.
Naomi, thanks for the add. I agree with what someone else said below about "Man made train" being my favorite. In fact, I'm listening to it RIGHT NOW! --Bill
