..At a time when two rival cities were at it's worst with gang violence, beef, and hostility, two young teenagers came together to form one of the most controversial groups in the Temple/Belton area.
In early 1998, two different styles came together to form something that would change the 254 area, forever. Not nothing more than just a house group at first, they never knew how far their dreams and talent would take them.

..Hailing from the small cities of Belton and Temple, TX, Nappytown has paved the way for a lot of artist around the area. Mario G. and Noki Swazay came together their sophomore year while meeting in their English class at Belton High. Mario had tapes of himself rapping and Noki has tapes of his beats. After meeting up and recording their first song on Dec. 4, 1998, they knew then what they were destined to do. That day, Nappytown was formed in and since then, have been flooding the area with music and representation of where they are from. After dropping their first underground album "Rising and Surprising" in the fall of 2000, with the 92.3 Talent Tuesday hit "Woodgrain" in rotation, they proved that the area had talent, and we're tired of being overlooked. They started getting booked for Lowrider Shows through a promoter named Bobby Montez, occasionally opening for Lifestyl, a duo group formed out of Galveston, TX.

..Moni Johnson signed Noki to the theGrindLab in 2004, and brought Nappytown under his wing. He introduced Nappytown to computer software and digital recording, at the time, Nappytown was using a 24 track recorder and other modules. They appeared on theGrindLab's debut album "In Your Head". In 2005, they released the underground album "Twincities", an album created in hopes to unite the two towns and eliminate any animosity or negativity between the two. Off the album, another radio hit was "Headbanga" featuring Dolla $ign Gold, a local artist hailing from Arkansas, and Flip Syde, a local artist hailing from Chi-Town. The song made it to the area's new Hip Hop radio station B 106.3. With theGrindLab at the time, they also we're featured on the album, with Noki Swazay production on the album several times also. They were featured in Block 2 Block's magazine for a half page interview in 2006, letting the area know that they repped the 254 to the fullest and wasn't about to slow down.

..In 2006, Noki came across a group of kids from Belton called Playa Made Texans, or PMT, and brought them under his wing. They went on to release a mixtape called "Talk of the Town", a 27 track CD featuring local artist from the area. On the mixtape, they recorded a track called "Welcome To 254", a local anthem that would make everyone from the area code proud to be apart of the new movement, featuring Dolla $ign Gold on the chorus. Local athletes from high schools across the Central Texas area, use the song for home game openings, practices, and warm-ups. You can also hear it at local clubs around the area. There's a lot more heat coming from Nappytown, and their label Nappytown Productions, so, if you're waiting for the group to fall off, I wouldn't hold your breath on it. These boys are just beginning...
