There are other movies that I have enjoyed as well when I saw them but that I do not know if they stand the test of time or even should be mentioned in the realm of powerful messages or good film-making. In the science fiction realm there are many like that and I am a sucker for all of the Star Trek films and loved the TV series - especially Next Generation and Voyager, or romantic movies incuding schmaltzy tear-jerkers like an Affair to Remember or all of the Audrey Hepburn movies, or difficult (for me) to watch but well-made powerful movies like the Fight Club, Twelve Monkeys, Seven which I might not recommend to everyone... or Elephant Man (I love David Lynch) or epic type films like Legend of the Fall - or movies like Braveheart or Shakespeare in Love or Tootsie or ones that I liked but not totally like Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean or Amelie - or musicals like West Side Story or My Fair Lady or dance movies (just for the dancing) like the Turning point or White Nights. Lately, I am so tired of the human condition, I find myself primarily interested in movies with a transpersonal theme or utopian science-fiction fantasy that show our greater/transcendent human potential. ... and for the first time, for pure escapist fun, I find myself enjoying what I would have previously never even given a chance: supsense/action/thriller type of flicks. (!)

Heroes
Sri Aurobindo, The Mother, Sri Ramana Maharshi, my mother, Gandhi; Peace Pilgrim; Dennis Kucinich; people who live their truth without compromise; visionaries whose work expands consciousness and is born from a sense of unity, and whose creativity is turned towards what would serve the greatest good for all; or those like Christopher Reeve who overcome adversity and are courageous examples of the triumph of the human spirit while continuing to act towards positive change; those who hunger for truth more than anything else; those who surrender to Silence; those who are living examples of overcoming the limiting mindset of their culture or of their own thoughts.
I can look through a lens that sees the heroic in all of life... in the courage of coming into the human condition. In a certain light, all of humanity, facing existential givens in the journey of life, can be seen as heroic. Birth itself, or coming into a body, can be seen as heroic. And those who fear or come into atrocious conditions and/or do not accomplish the great feats of those I listed above also play their part in this dance of One texturing their soul and influencing collective consciousness. Those that resist the Divine Creative Will that breathes us all possibly suffer far more and with much greater effort than the ease, grace and inspiration that flow through acts that we call heroic.
I am looking for a publisher who will publish my books on the creative process and the nature of Self. Working titles are "God's Echo" (aphorisms, poetry and prose), "Living Eternity in Time" and "Yoga of Ballet".

Beyond the chatter of the mind there is this happening. It is always going on, yet rarely ever noticed. Our thoughts are a part, but it does not require them. It happens of itself, despite my grandest of notions. When the mind is still the background stands out and swallows "me" completely "I" do not exist, as once thought before.

I recently came to the notion that "If I can do a thing, I can also not do a thing." "Doing" and "not doing" are two sides of the same coin. Whatever side of the coin we may find ourselves on, we are already half way there to the other side. The connection between the two is obvious but often remains obscure in the face of conditioned patterns and habits. Most of the time we react to our conditioned habitual patterns and cycles immediately, without ever pausing to see it for what it is: A conditioned reaction. This reaction takes place so fast that it is rarely ever noticed or even considered.
I have been recalling my recent insight every time I find myself craving something like a cigarette. In that critical moment when the thought arises, I remember that if I can do this (smoke a cigarette), I can also not do it (not smoke it.) By calling my awareness to this fact when these thoughts and cycles arise, it has allotted me the space to make an actual choice as opposed reacting to an old familiar pattern.
This realization has become somewhat of a mantra for me. I've been invoking it every time I find my self reacting to something. If I can get mad, I can also not get mad, If I can be afraid of something, then I can also not be afraid of something, If I can crave something, then I can also not crave something." The possibilities seem endless. It’s amazing how the awareness at the right moment has made all the difference. Of course the old patterns still continue and return from time to time and that’s ok too. As the awareness interrupts the old patterns they are becoming less and less frequent. To use the analogy of a spinning wheel, once you stop spinning it, it will still go for awhile but eventually come to rest.

Often we tend to overlook the importance of emptiness. Without emptiness, no form could exist. They are intrinsically tied to each other. The usefulness of any vessel can be found within the empty space inside. Like a clay vase, it is not so much the form that matters, but in the space inside that makes it useful. The empty space of a canvas is necessary for the paint that lies upon its surface. The paper upon which we read printed letters is often overlooked. So much of our attention falls upon the things lying in the forefront while the background escapes us.
Here is to swimming in the vast ocean of nothing from which everything is born! I am honored that we may meet here. Have a great weekend! You are beautiful! ~R~
The word "Mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means essence or containing. It is a representation of the structure of life and is traditionally considered a diagram of how things are ordered within the physical world and universe as well as within our very own minds. Whenever I spend time gazing upon a Mandala, one thing always jumps out and becomes extremely clear: I am at the center of it. At the very center of the life, I experience. From this moment here, it is always me.
You are the center of the Mandala.
You are the point upon which the concentric axis of life and drama unfolds around.
You are the fulcrum upon which your entire existence spins about.
The circles of life and drama that surrounds you are vibrations from your center.
Finding the center beyond all the circles of drama and stories,
I find myself here again.
In this moment looking upon the cycles of Samsara.
Looking upon you looking upon me once again.
Wishing you good fortune on your way back to the center.
