The best way to prevent animal cruelty is by cutting down on the animal products you eat. The less animals you eat, the fewer that will be killed and the fewer that will live a life of misery. And with so many great veg restaurants, it's totally easy! Check out our Veg Seattle site!

NARN's UW Kills Animals informs the public about the abuses and cruelty done by the University of Washington to animals in their laboratories. Over 16,000 animals are kept captive in secluded locations, with over 3000 of them being primates. Help us hold UW accountable!

The Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle is ranked as the second-worst facility for captive elephants. WPZ places profits above the health and lives of the elephants held there, sometimes with tragic and fatal results. We have been working to get them released to a sanctuary. Visit our site Friends of Woodland Park Zoo Elephants for more information and ways you can help.

We also do host the Compassionate Consumer Circle, a comprehensive resource of animal-related services, such as pet-sitters, no-kill shelters, sanctuaries, clinics, businesses and retail shops, throughout the Puget Sound region. We put out the Animal Services Guide, a convenient directory that is available in most animal-friendly establishments.

  • Music

Do you know of any bands that would let us have a table with literature at their shows? We want to educate concert-goers about the the realities of animal use in industries and the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. Let us know at volunteer@narn.org

Vegan Freak Radio podcasts are really awesome, too: funny and informative.

  • Movies

  • Television

Watch Undercover TV on SCAN-TV (Seattle Community Access Network). Airs on Channel 77 (Comcast in Seattle) at midnight Wednesday (technically Thursday 12:00 am). This series is produced by IDA (In Defense of Animals) in California and submitted to SCAN-TV by NARN.

If you would like to help NARN continue to offer SCAN content, please send us a message. The more people submitting animal advocacy content, the better.

"Very little of the great cruelty shown by men can really be attributed to cruel instinct. Most of it comes from thoughtlessness or inherited habit. The roots of cruelty, therefore, are not so much strong as widespread. But the time must come when inhumanity protected by custom and thoughtlessness will succumb before humanity championed by thought. Let us work that this time may come." -Albert Schweitzer

"I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men." -Leonardo da Vinci

"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." - Elie Wiesel

"The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of 'real food for real people,' you'd better live real close to a real good hospital." - Neal D. Barnard, M.D. (President, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine)

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet" - Albert Einstein

"When we kill the animals to eat them, they end up killing us because their flesh, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings." - William C. Roberts, M.D. (Editor of The American Journal of Cardiology)

"I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being." - Abraham Lincoln

"You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Nothing more strongly arouses our disgust than cannibalism, yet we make the same impression on Buddhists and vegetarians, for we feed on babies, though not our own." - Robert Louis Stevenson

Thank you for supporting WEC (Wildlife Educators Coalition). WEC is a relatively new environmental awareness organization based out of Western, New York. At WEC we offer animal presentations where the audience has a personal, one-on-one experience with the animals where we spread our word of wildlife and animal conservation. WEC is an organization that broke off from another wildlife educational group due to different goals and messages. Here at WEC our mission is not only to preserve the animals that inhabit our world, but to help spread a message on conserving the environment. We hope to leave our audience with a thrill they will experience nowhere else. Our core volunteers are all experienced in the business of the animal and environmental awareness industry. We have big plans for the future which are only possible through your help. We are thankful to any bit of help a person can give to WEC, whether it be telling a friend about us or giving a small donation; WEC appreciates and values the time and effort you give for our organization. For questions or comments please feel free to visit our website: www. beta. nywec. org. Once again, thank you for your support; we look forward to building a relationship with you.
