"...like staring at a lava light while riding a roller coaster"- perhaps the most startlingly accurate description of a band that can't be classified, but whose music is impossible to ignore. Drawing on sources such as classic progressive rock, leading-edge experimental, middle eastern modalities and true, raw improvisation into the unknown, Nashid creates dropped jaws and transformed minds in any audience.
Formed in early 2003, three musicians from disparate backgrounds came together and quickly forged a tight bond and desire to break new ground.
Named Best World Music Band by The Riverfront Times in 2004, Nashid has shared the stage with true musical legends and the most daring of local acts.
The band is: Sean Sutton, lead vocals and guitars, Josh Chew, drums, vocals and an extensive array of percussion and Paul MacFarlane, basses, keyboards, vocals, sound effects and a dizzying range of world instruments.
Nashid performs both electric and acoustic shows-both supported by a dazzling array of instrumentation and effects to create sonic landscapes that are powerful, cinematic and engaging.
Several CDs of live electric and acoustic material are available.

Paul and Sean, have you guys listened to Karl Sanders (of Nile), Saurian Meditation (Relapse Records, 2004)? I'm certain you guys would appreciate the sound-- Egyptian soundscapes and impressive technical licks on guitar.
You guys sounded great at Cicero's last night. Paul, I'm always pleased to hear you guys cover A Saucer Full of Secrets; last night it occurred to me that if on some night you would like an additional voice for that song, I'd enjoy being a volunteer.
Graet performance last night! I really had a blast! Thanks for having Lida Una play with you guys. Let's do it again sometime soon - in 2007! Peace ;> Don
