The Movement was an alternative pop band in the Nashville music scene from 1982 till 1986. This site is here for fans of the self titled album which was released in 1984. Richie Owens and Robert Ocker have continued to write together and perform on and off since then, one project Atomic Speedway which is in the music style of the Movement is studio based and can be heard on the Atomic Speedway myspace site. The other project which they are currently performing live with is an Americana band called Richie Owens and the Farm Bureau which can also be checked out on myspace. There was a time when the Movement seemed like it was gonna take over the world......It was all temporary, those 12th n porter shows. Except in my head.........
You guys have absolutely NO IDEA of how the Movement's self titled EP influenced my personal and at the time, Rumble Circus's writing and aspirations. My feet are screwed for life from copy-wearing the Chelsea boots Richie sported and Erich Hubner and I wanted nothing more in 1985 than to have our hair just that much taller than his. "Temporary" is second only to 'Norwegian Wood' as my favorite 3/4 time song in rock history.Long live The Movement.
Great to see these tunes out there in the wide world of the web. And Bob, I always thought that solo on "Temporary" was amazing. Another great band, gone but not forgotten...
