Torontos Nassau make their auspicious Outside Music debut with Machines To Paradise, an album that stomps and swaggers, while allowing the melodies to shine and slither. Machines To Paradise is just as psychedelic as their debut, A Fire In The Ashes, although the bands earlier sound has grown and become more concise and confident.
Sounding as good blaring from speakers as it does seeping into your brain through headphones, Machines To Paradise is a fantastic record born from the mind of Jon McCann, who gained attention as the drummer for bands including Tangiers, American Flag and Guided By Voices. In Nassau, he hands the drum duties to Brad Pallister and takes on guitar and vocal duties. Chris McCann joins him on guitar, while Al Kelso handles bass.
Their combined forces produce music that fires the imagination, capturing sounds that are as eerie as they are beautiful. Nobodys throwback, Nassau isnt trying to emulate its heroes, but uses elements of the past to create timeless music.
The band recruited Kent, Ohio producer and musician Todd Tobias to mix Machines To Paradise. Tobias produced and mixed the last three Guided By Voices records (Half Smiles of the Decomposed, Earthquake Glue and Universal Truths and Cycles), as well as a bunch of GBV front man Robert Pollards other projects.

You have "currently been on hiatus" for a long time. It's time to step it up and get back in the game. Maybe this drawing I made just for you will be encouraging?
In case you feel like a night out for malty beverages and/or fruity umbrella drinks (to each their own)... and of course some Rock and Roll, we're playing the Mod Club on Saturday the 20th (Depending if you're in the GTA that night or not)
If you think you might be able to make it send me a message and I'll put you on the guest list. We've been told that it's unlimited, so send me any other names you might want on as well.
