About me:

I live and breathe art. The application of the creative process is the interface for everything I do: parenting, work, relationship and of course, art. The definition of art is relative to one's personal experience, culture and education. For me, art is...writing grants to build youth and adult projects & programs; weaving abaca shawls and blankets because winter approaches and my children need cozy warmth; sewing, hand dying and painting torquoise curtains for the sunporch because it's got to feel like water; creating a support oriented childbirth education class to encourage pregnant mamas to explore their pregnancy through the process of creating art; organizing a mother's creative coop because we need the village to raise our children and got to be innovative on how to financially support our families; auditioning and making the part for local theatrical plays, not so I can be a superstar but because I want to better experience my children and learn to be in the moment and; my passion and burden: communicating parts of my inner and outter circles & cycles through painting, drawing and writing. This is a tradition I was raised to honor and follow. I can not exist in any other way. Soulfully real and raw, I seek the indigenous center.

By clicking on the image you want to see below, you can glimpse into my latest series, the Black Icon Series. The technique focuses on a painting process that emphasizes fantastic lines, shapes and colors. The aesthetic is grounded in indigenous theory. The subject matter is the face or persona. Yet, intuitively the face is a metaphor for other intentions where layers of emotion, insight and symbolism are bound by the simplistic forms.
