She is all the women you have heard.
She is nothing like the women you have heard.
She is soft; she is powerful; she will bowl you over and then dust you off... tear you to pieces and then leave you with more than you had coming in.
There is a spine tingling that happens when all of the right talent collides with the right being, the songs coming through a divine filter. This is Natalie Hughes. This is all she was ever meant to do.
Natalie was born into music...around the campfire, in the church choir. She began tinkering with the piano early on and is fully self-taught, picking up musical knowledge and theory bits from her parents and brother who all played guitar. Songwriting began at 13. Two full length recordings have been self-produced, capturing a selection of the many songs she has penned. (In Circles, 2001 and One Girl, 2003)
In addition to her own material, highlights of her live performance also include gripping interpretations of other artists' songs such as Annie Lennox, James Taylor and Jewel to name but a few. Natalie's unique flavour is all over these pieces, developed over time in cover bands both as a keyboardist and lead vocalist.
After a brief writing hiatus, Natalie's return to performing has been much anticipated and is even more dynamic than ever. Expect a new full length cd in 2008 produced by Canadian music veteran Rob Laidlaw (who has worked alongside top talents from Sarah Harmer to Alannah Myles, Figgy Duff to Loverboy, and countless more), sure to capture the beautiful sound she has come to be known for.
