Sounds Like
Hey everybody! Well first of all I've been singing, songwriting, and playing the piano my whole life, even before I knew that I wanted to be involved in the beautiful art of music. I've always felt like there's a reason why my heart and soul always felt this crazy connection with great beats and melody. It's kind of like falling in love for the first time and knowing that the feeling will just never go away:) My influences are definitely old school R&B and hip-hop, along with jazz and latin music. My love for soul music and latin percussion has given me a better perspective of the music I want to share with the rest of the world. To me, making music is not about the money or the fame, it's about creating something so beautiful, that it touches not only my soul but the souls of everyone around me. Being in that moment in that time when nothing else really matters accept what you are feeling through those beats, lyrics, and through that melody.
“Blossom in the flowers...day in evening hours... I come out and
feel the heat as this passion comes into me...flows like sultry
harmony..” are the words that come out of Chicago based singer/
songwriter Natalie Oliveri. Her eclectic style of mixing R&b, Latin Jazz, neo-
soul, & hip-hop into one, is what makes this soulful artist so unique. Her
inspiration and influence comes from the music that she grew up listening to
as well as “the genuine feeling as those chords along with the perfect
melody, rhythm, harmonies & instrumental sounds all come into place.
Natalie began playing piano at the young age of 8 and soon after had
the natural ability to compose music whether it was a classical piece or a
melancholy ballad. “ Natalie started writing music at such a young age and
had an extraordinary ear for composing beautiful pieces, it all came very
easy and natural for her” (Gerald Rizzer, piano faculty/coordinator of chamber
music ensembles at Sherwood Conservatory of Music) This songstress also
realized she had the ability to sing the songs that she would write. She
continued studying music throughout the years and was given the
opportunity to study in an extensive 1 week music program at “ El
Conservatorio De Musica en Puerto Rico”. Soon after, Natalie graduated
with a Bachelor of Art in Music Business Management/Vocal Performance
at Columbia College of Chicago.
Natalie: My mother of Colombian descent taught me about my Latin
culture, the rhythmic folkloric dancing , the sound of the tambora and
alegre percussion as you move to the music, the cultural passion that latin
music brings into your soul as you are dancing and singing. It’s a warm
feeling of happiness that cannot really be explained. My Sicilian father on
the other hand, was the complete opposite. As an Italian-American he
introduced me to the classics of Motown, Oldies, Elvis Presley, Minnie Ripperton, Frank Sinatra, and all the Italian greats. Growing up in the mid
80’s supplemented me with the presence of pop while in the 90’s I fell in love
with the new rhythmic movement of hip-hop. As an artist, all of these
musical personalities is what makes me who I am today.
****So what kind of music does Natalie create?***Natalie’s influence of
different styles & rhythms can either confuse you or enchant you but the
truth of the matter is that it is a reflection of our different cultures, the
diversified world in which we live in today. Her words are a reflection of
different feelings that people go through when they are in certain situations
within a relationship. As human beings, we sometimes tend to over think
certain situations and get blinded by our ego’s. One week we’re in love and
the next week we just want to be left alone. Each song carries its own story.
Whether she is singing in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, her versatile
music speaks of true international quality. Her sweet dreamy voice shimmers
through her music and in her latest EP Release titled “EcLeCtic SoUL”, she
translucently touches on music of true “soul” from all different walks of life. "Por la musica que sientes dentro del corazon"...

hey nat, How are you!?!?!?!? i just saw the video of us performing and I didn't realize how good we were. We sounded great. There is something very special about the way we performed in that video. It shows a lot of potential in us as performers. I didn't realize but that performance showed something very mature and marketable of us. who took that video?
Liza kept saying your name a long time ago...and I was like...yeah, I remember her. I'm in need of some singers for my next project- let me know if you're "down".
