Natalie Sheppard is as innocent as she looks. But her lyrics? Not so much. “Everything I write is based on tangible feelings, but I have the tendency to intensify them to such a degree, that I oftentimes catch my listeners off guard,” she says. She also admits that there’s a great deal of enjoyment that comes out of that scenario. Although she has been singing, in her father’s endearing words, “since she could string a sentence together,” it isn’t until the past couple of years that she has truly come out of her shell. Claiming she is simply more true to her emotions, she carries this new persona and attitude into her lyrics, vocal styling, and stage performances. Drawing influences from a wide array of industry greats, from Joan Jett to Queen to Gwen Stefani, Natalie produces music that is lively, infectious, and unparalleled. “I want my music to hit you like a ton of bricks,” she says. “But don’t worry, I’m a nice girl. I’ll help you back up.”
