bee was in csbee.
nate was in the social studies.
peter was in portable dinosuar.
those bands went the way of the mc-pizza.
so these three talented kids joined forces to create an even newer, bigger, louder audio experience...................a SUPER BAND!
not to be confused with a rubber band.
dj/sax collaboration featuring jeremy nail on the turntables.
the social studies
four piece rock without strings featuring heather tews on vocals, jeff rush on drums, and brendon wright ..boards.
the social studies were rocking the northwest without guitars from february 1999 to november 2004. in that time, their synthetic pop style received many comparisons from everything but the girl to pj harvey to swing out sister each of which, while quite flattering, tends to touch on one specific area of the band instead of capturing the overall feel. replacing guitar and bass with saxophone and keyboards is a difficult task when the fruit of your labor is rock and roll. things get more interesting when you attempt to work around the lack of such instruments rather than simply substitute for them and its that accomplishment that gives the social studies work a completely different feel from anything else out there.
the partisans
featuring people nobody's ever heard of. on guitar and drums.
