The foundation of Nate Jones development as a bass player was molded by a
Sunday morning Gospel tradition familiar to most, finding his creative inspiration amongst a family of musicians and singers. As a youth in the South Bronx, his formal study began at the Bloomingdale School of Music. The time of study at the Bloomingdale School prepared Nate for success in high school where he was a member of the jazz band and played for the gospel choir, then eventually led to him receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Jazz Performance from SUNY Purchase.

Currently touring the U.S. with Columbia recording artist Lyfe Jennings, Nate
has been fortunate enough to work with some of the music industries most
notable artists, ranging from Grammy Award winning luminaries Donnie
McClurkin, John P. Kee, and Gospel legend LaShun Pace to many of todays
soulful legends in the making, including Bilal and Leela James. Hes also played with Hip Hops distinguished Questlove of The Roots, and his noteworthy TV appearances have included The Bobby Jones Gospel Hour, The Jane Pauly Show, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, and most recently, Jimmy Kimmel Live. With his musical dexterity as a bassist being influenced by popular culture, it isnt uncommon for Nate to flawlessly blend a Hip Hop, rock, or jazz melody within whatever style of music being played. And though playing live venues has been an integral part of his career, performance up to this point has been the mere threshold of Nates success as a musician. When not touring or teaching, the majority of his time is spent collaborating on original compositions to be used for television and film scoring, and also working with a number of music producers for studio recordings.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to get on stage @ The 5 Spot last night. Your success is truly an inspiration to a young bassist, such as myself. Hope you have a great Turkey Day, and also to meet you again sometime in the near future...
Greetings. I just wanted to thank you for your continued support and invite you to have a first listen on myspace to the tracks off the new EP "Monster & Minstrel" due out later this month. Bright stars to you! Ahmond
Sometimes when i look around, all i see is misery, despair, frustration and pain...
Then, i close my eyes, take a couple deep breaths, RELAX...And ask myself, "WHAT IF all I saw was what I WANTED TO SEE?" Then, I open my eyes. I see the sun, I see the blue sky, I see my girls smiling back at me, I see life...
And then, lo and behold, I see nothing but OPPORTUNITY...
Thanks for reading. And if you enjoy these little sayings I send out, take a look at my site, http://TankJones.com and take a look at my blogs. You can also see a lot of pics of events I've done, music I've made and learn about my foundation.
I've just uploaded a couple of new solo bass demo tracks, "Lullaby" a tune I recorded with my Spector fretted bass and "Soulmates" a new rough demo recorded with my Zon Hyperbass. I hope you will get to check them out and tell me what you think :)
