You sign up at the site below and start taking surveys straight away. It does cost a few dollars to join, but you earn that back within the day, so it's not a big deal. The reason you need to pay is because the site filters out all the scam companies who don't pay you, so it's definitely worth throwing them a few dollars at the start.
