Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Nate is a versatile drummer known for his great pocket, big sound, and diverse knowledge of musical styles. After displaying an odd affinity for banging on things around the house, he picked up his first real pair of drum sticks at age 6 and hasn't looked back since. Nate graduated summa cum laude from the Berklee College of Music in May 2008 with a Bachelor's of Music degree in drum set performance. He is a Zildjian Percussion Award and Berklee Achievement Scholarship recipient, and has studied privately with drum greats Dave DiCenso (Cro-Mags, Steve Morse Band), Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock), Ralph Peterson (Freddie Hubbard, Fo'tet), and Tony "Thunder" Smith (Lou Reed, Santana).
After graduating Berklee, Nate held the drum chair previously occupied by drumming legend Gary Husband for prog/jamband rockers Gongzilla during their summer 2008 album release tour. In addition, Nate has performed at the IAJE Jazz Festival in NYC with Tiger Okoshi's fusion ensemble, played the main stage at the infamous Exotic Erotic Ball in San Francisco with Boston blues-rockers Black Betty and the Bad Habits, and toured the Netherlands and Russia on behalf of the Onego Cultural Foundation. Currently, Nate resides in Los Angeles, where he continues to perform as a touring and session drummer. You can see him at venues like The Mint, Cozy's, Dakota Lounge, The Baked Potato, and the House of Blues supporting a variety of artists.
