Nate's Bio
I am a musician/singer/songwriter. The music on this site is a small sample of my music.
I wrote, performed and recorded a majority of my 200+ songs. Some material was recorded
and engineered by my good friend and former bandmate,
Bill Pitts, go to Blairnt Central.
My songs are a virtual potpourri of genres and styles. I would say that the main influences
are rock/pop, progressive, and acoustic, with touches of funk, jazz/fusion, classical, blues, big
band, hard rock, new wave (I'm dating myself), and folk.
I started playing bass at age 13. I played in local bands and added backing vocals.
As the bands shifted from playing covers to writing and recording original music,
I found myself writing music and adding keyboards. I was more satisfied with this,
as playing live had lost its charm for me. I was playing more guitars and singing out
of necessity, My songs were going in a different direction than most other musicians t
hat I knew, and I could spend time devoted to them.
The first band that I was in was
Black Ice
starting in 1978; some of my best friends were
part of this group. We reunited in 1996 and again in 2005 to play a couple of gigs.
In 1983 I helped form Sabre
(Sabre page, just added)
which was a hard rock band; it later changed to Nykko in 1986
and emphasized a more vocal harmony-oriented sound. 1987 was when I became more of a songwriter.
I supported Joseph Lee Wood around the mid-1990s with bass and backing vocals, and then
formed The Dudes in 1998. It had started as 2 Dudes with myself performing, writing and
producing and my friend Jay Lisk (a local band promoter) providimg vocals. The group had
one fair selling CD, Humorous Eargasm. The last few years I have been organizing my
extensive catalog, and converting/cleaning up the songs to digital formats.
I have been thinking about playing a show or two, we'll see.
