His approach reflects the urban styles of abstract graffiti and the classic form of surrealism.
Nathaniel Robert’s odd characters represent life in a symbolic form, So when you see an ill proportioned hand, eye, lip, foot, or body know that there is a deeper meaning behind it then just style.
Nathaniel Roberts originally named Robert El-Nathan Sumpter was born in the late 70’s and was raised in Brooklyn.
In 2000 Nathaniel was involved with a number of group shows throughout Harlem starting with Art in the park for the Harlem Renaissance. Then famous Harlem restaurants such as Amy Ruth’s, The Bayou, Mo Bay, Lyondell’s, and the Revival begin to display his work. In 2001 Nathaniel also was involved in a group show within K&G the Mega store in Harlem. In 06’ he was included in a dedication show for the late Gordon Parks held within the Nubian Heritage Art gallery. Recently relocating to Atlanta Nathaniel Roberts has formed his own art gallery and has recently shown works within Discover Mills Mall, and The Atlanta Bench.
