The music of Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis explores the intersection between the worlds of classical composition and avant-garde jazz. His compositions in both improvised and composed forms create a flashpoint in which a plurality of styles and influences (please see above) collide and integrate into a unique creative voice. He has studied with composers Dana Wilson, Robert Gibson, David Froom, and Henry Threadgrill, attended the École Normale de Musique in Paris, was an associate artist at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in 2005, and was in residency at the Alba Music Festival in Alba, Italy in 2006. In 2004, he received the Ithaca College Smadbeck Composition Prize; in 2006 his string quartet "Quinta Corda" was a prize-winner in the University of Maryland’s Walsum Competition. Recently he was commissioned by the Chesapeake Orchestra to write an orchestra piece for the 2007 Riverfront Concert Series. In addition to his work as a composer, Nathan performs as a jazz pianist in the Washington, D.C. area.
