“What truly stands out is the funky groove that the guitar evokes seemingly on every track, couple that with some eclectic sounds peppered about and unique instruments like kalimba and weissenborn slide guitar and you have yourself a pretty damn good album to build off of.”

“Miller’s playing has that same swaggering, raw-edged power. He drops the hammer hard and mean, especially on such raucous standouts from his repertoire as the churning “Helen Keller” and the funky “Music’s My Religion”.
The Pulse
-Dwight Hobbes-
“… A musical wind from yesterday sitting right and proper in today’s world. The ‘roots’ music that he plays has a real groove that will get your boots stomping as well as a slower simple verse that leaves no room for misunderstanding.”

“The distinctive sound permeates the album. It’s a lusty, bawdy, ballsy blues recording with well-placed moments of delicate folksiness and subtle hip-hop inflection. There are no jangly, tinny guitars to be found—this music is raw and earthy.”

Bio
Born and raised in Rochester MN, Nate decided to not only expand his musical horizons by switching from electric to lap slide guitar, he also decided to expand culturally, and moved to Minneapolis. Soon after Nate decided he not only needed to put out an album, but also put together a backing band, Composed of bassist/vocalist George Hadfield, drummer/vocalist Tyler Jorenby (formally of This World Fair), and percussionist Miles Hanson (IPR music school graduate, producer, and engineer). With hours of practice, shows, and studio time under their belts, Nate’s Debut album Bombs & a Hustle was released in May of 2006, to a sold out crowd at the Fineline in Minneapolis.
