Nathi Gcabashe is one of those rare Artists that one way or the other will steal your attention whenever he takes centre stage, with his exceptional vocal technique he takes you through a journey you don’t want to see end.
The South African born star released a debut album through Chissa Records, a record company founded by the Legendary South African Trumpet Master “Hugh Masekela” the record generated massive airplay around the country and created a demand for the music video.
Makoti was chosen as the album single and the video was shot and immediately circulated on South African National Television channels for weeks on rotation while the song was topping charts in various radio stations around the country. This is after Nathi had been working in the music scene for over ten years with the likes of the late Miriam Makeba ,Bheki Mseleku ,Hugh Masekela,Themba Mkhize and Sbongile Khumalo to name but a few, He made his name as one of the top background vocalist and a session musician very early in his career.
Early 2008 Nathi was one of the South African Afro Jazz Artist that joined Hugh Masekela on the US 20 City tour together with Sbongile Khumalo and Khaya Mahlangu performing alongside Jill Scott, Billy Ocean, Lebo M, Diana Ross and the Gospel duo Marry Marry
