Formed in 2001, Toronto’s National Anthem has been turning heads and stealing hearts with their own brand of rock/power pop. Hearkening back to the golden age of radio rock (when blazing solos were cool, and moping wasn’t), National Anthem weaves together a multitude of influences which culminate in an irresistible sound of big, loud guitars, a hand-in-glove rhythm section, and infectious vocal harmonies. For these rockers, "party" is both a noun and a verb, and everyone is invited!
2002 saw the release of National Anthem's debut, the Brenndan McGuire produced "Sing Along if You Know the Words". It was first released with Riptide/EMI, and then later in 2003 with MapleNationWide/Universal. Two videos followed - an independent vid for "Sweet Revenge" and another with the generous help of VideoFact for "National Anthem". Both videos had their day in the sun with MuchMusic, and "Sweet Revenge" was a radio fave in several regions across Canada. It is still getting regular play at Toronto Maple Leafs games. Tours followed the release of "Sing Along...", the most notable being an opening spot with the almighty Sloan. As well, the band appeared on national television several times, including features on MuchMusic’s "Going Coastal" and Open Mike with Mike Bullard. We’ve seen a thousand faces and rocked ‘em all! Lastly, you’ve heard National Anthem's tunes on your TV and at the movies, (Thom Fitzgerald’s "The Event", Radio Free Roscoe, Fashion Television, etc).
2004-05 saw the band hard at work, writing, rehearsing, and crafting their next "future classic", the independently released "Radio On". Working closely with Canadian music icon Moe Berg, the boys have laid down 10 blocks of rock that are sure to keep your finger on your cd player’s ‘repeat’ button. From the raucous opener "Shinin’ On" through to the closer "Goodnight Little Girl", you know that these boys are here to plug-in and rock your socks off. So turn it up to 10 and rip the knob off, baby!
All rise for your NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!
Whats up? I found this site and thought i'd tell everyone, it shows you if anyone at school likes you. I dont know how it works but its really cool, it told me a couple different people who have crushes on me since gradeschool. You gotta try it!
Hope everything is cool, whatever you might be doing. And also, that you maybe, whenever you find the time to, could check in and check out our new tune, 'Wave Of Fire'. It would rock if you would, I tell you! Yeah!
Called it quits?!?! No!!! Thats really too bad, but I hope things go well for you all in the future! One more great Canadian band laid to rest.
cheers
