National Coalition for the Homeless's Blurbs
About me:

The National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), founded in 1982, is a national network of people who are currently experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, activists and advocates, community-based and faith-based service providers, and others committed to a single mission. That mission, our common bond, is to end homelessness.

Toward this end, the National Coalition for the Homeless engages in public education, policy advocacy, and grassroots organizing. We focus our work in the following 4 areas: housing justice, economic justice, health care justice, and civil rights. We take as our first principle of practice that people who are currently experiencing homelessness or have formerly experienced homelessness must be actively involved in all of our work.

The reason of you and me

We are all puppets and crazy sometimes...

We are not free, it was not intended to be.

Start at the moment when we can't talk...

we can't fight and walk.

So many books and rules... but one program

from our culture, religion, society,...

They put it in our cradle and our brain...

they feel much better when we are in pain.

What they want to prove?

That we can be somebody for the moment

only if we obey all what they say,

all what they want ... we must do!?

The reason of you and me,

to do everything to become free...

sometimes afraid to believe

can be real for the moment to feel.

What they want to show...

that we need every day more and more?

Must be something about love

but nobody wants to grow.

The book of rules is placed in our cradle

to show how we are small.

Start at the moment when we can't talk...

we can't fight and walk.

We never get rid of this program

until we reach our graves...

We go trough the suffer and dead,

dieing to ourself to forget all habits that we meet...

Finally free to start our own program that we feel...

It's something that is right and real...

This is our own power. It was always here...

We don't wont to be puppets, I believe.

Laguna Beach repealed homeless criminalization law

On Tuesday March 3 2009, the city of Laguna Beach
repealed a ban on sleeping on the street in
response to an ACLU lawsuit.

Santa Barbara sued over public sleeping law

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.
The Medesto Bee Newspaper
http://www. modbee. com/state_wire/story/622166. html

The city is unfairly criminalizing homeless people by enforcing a ban on
nighttime sleeping on public property, a civil rights group claimed in a lawsuit
filed Friday.

Santa Barbara's "anti-sleeping ordinance" violates constitutional rights,
according to the suit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union of
Southern California. The ordinance makes it illegal for a person to sleep
overnight on public property, including beaches.

"By citing and arresting mentally ill or physically disabled homeless persons
for sleeping in public places when there are no reasonable alternatives
available to them, the city engages in arbitrary and unreasonable conduct,"
said Mark Rosenbaum, legal director for the ACLU group. "The city and its
law-enforcement personnel treat the chronically homeless as if they were
outlaws."

City Attorney Stephen Wiley said the city rarely enforces the anti-sleeping
ordinance and instead applies an anti-camping ordinance aimed at curbing
homeless people erecting tents and having bonfires on the beach. He said
there usually is enough room in various city shelters to accommodate
people.

"The legal merits are extremely far-fetched," Wiley said of the suit.
"Essentially they are saying there is a constitutional right to camp on a
beach. We are pretty sure a judge isn't going to see it that way.

Wiley said Santa Barbara looks after its homeless population better than
many cities in California and homeless people are virtually n

Hello~

At Redding California Loaves and Fishes we believe the world is not looking for a better sermon on Christian Love, but a better demonstration of it !

We are against practices and laws that unfairly single out homeless people and criminalize them for everyday living and life-sustaining activites.

Affluent Beach City Sued for Treating Disabled Homeless People as Criminals

On Dec. 23, the ACLU of Southern California and the law firm of Irell & Manella LLP along with Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California, Irvine School of Law, jointly sued Laguna Beach over the affluent beach city's unconstitutional and inhumane policy of harassing, intimidating, citing and arresting disabled homeless people. The lawsuit – on behalf of certain homeless residents -- was filed in federal district court in Orange County.

Comment:

To take money from HUD to help the homeless while passing
laws to criminalize being homeless is fraudulent and should be
subject to criminal charges as well as civil.

End of my comment on this subject, for now - TR
