Influences
Maybe some of the people we've played with will give you an idea where we're at:
Gigs with The Pastels
Appendix Out
International Airport
Movietone
The Styrenes
Acid Mothers Temple
Richard Youngs
Lucky Luke
Music and Movement
Elliot Smith
Jad Fair
Future Pilot AKA
Belle and Sebastian
Empress
Tape
Tenniscoats
Bill Wells' National Jazz Trio of Scotland
Phantom Engineer
This is a very eclectic list for a band with such a monomaniac sound.
Sounds Like
Loose, ten-minutes-long, tape hiss, folky, warm, a bit like the Velvets, lonesome, a stripped-down (musically!) Galaxie 500/ Yo La Tengo, slightly blurred, like it's raining, snowing, really sunny, somewhere between the visceral and the whistleable.
Formed by John Hogarty and Scott Walker (guitar), Simon Shaw and Michael McGaughrin joined when forced into becoming a real band after being offered a gig at the Pastels' club Illumination with Future Pilot AKA.
After nine under-achieving years and seven records, the lineup is now John, Simon, Gerard Love playing guitar and the incredible Eilidh Rodgers on drums. With John moonlighting earlier in the year for Simon's band (Lucky Luke) and lately Music and Movement, plans are afoot for some new National Park shows/ recordings.

MONOTONIX Saturday 28th November Nice n Sleazys, Glasgow
The release of their new album tops off a whirlwind year of touring, the infamy surrounding their charged live perfomances steadily mounting. Rightly so, check out this youtube link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmEHu-QAgNE&feature=related - and marvel at one of the typically unpredictable gigs of the band that Spin have declared the "most exciting live band in rock'n'roll."

Perhaps the rarest precious gem from MOONDOG's treasure chest of sonic delights 'Tell It Again' is released now on POPPYDISC. This 1957 lost classic album features an unlikely but wonderful collaboration with the legendary Julie Andrews. The album's reissue was supervised by Moondog fanatic Duglas T Stewart and sound reproduction has been lovingly remastered by Norman Blake. The album is available on both vinyl and c.d. formats.

"Fusing the driving stomps of classic sixties soul with the muddy yet crunchy guitars and puerile words of garage rock, King Khan & The Shrines are one of those uncommon groups who seem to live in the past and still make an attention-grabbing noise. The Supreme Genius is a retrospective of their work this century from initial 45s through to the cleaner more sophisticated efforts of their last proper album, What Is?!. Soul is certainly a key ingredient in the Shrine's psychedelic stew, though purists would balk at describing the end product as one of their own ('filthy racket' being the likely response). Fans of the 'rock 'n' soul' pedigree stretching from the Kingsmen to The Make Up and The Black Lips, however, should be more accepting, as will anyone who likes their music loud and raucous" BBC Music

Times New Viking "Rambunctious to new standards of blessed impenetrability, Ohio trio Times New Viking’s simple-on-paper M.O. is to take the sweetest of super-sweet pop music, indiefied though it is, and strip it of its outer layers of glitz and gloss. The result is music that crackles and fuzzes, screams and roars; it’s an X-Factor audition in a spin-dryer, potential sing-alongs rendered riotously raw through purposeful deconstruction." Clash magazine
