Here I go. At the edge of this very high cliff, plugging my nose, cramming my eyes shut and ***JUMP***
Today at noon oh hundred hours I am signing the lease for my very own dance studio in Phoenix! I am so excited but sceered to death too! I dont know if I will shit myself, barf or hyperventilate but it is surreal and thrilling all at once. Finally- a space of our very own.
I am currently seeking teachers to join our staff as well as reception personnel. Let me know if you are interested in details. In addition to bellydance, I hope to offer other world dance styles so even if your dance discipline differs from ME dance, I will talk with you. I also am interested in some yoga, meditation, and more "quieting" type classes as well. Reikki? Massage?
For now, the entity will be DBA The Goddess Garden since that is my current DBA and I had to act quick on various arrangements that required the DBA, but I may change it. What do you think? My initial thoughts are the The goddess Garden is kind of obtuse. It doesnt relate to dance so JQP wouldnt have any idea what we were. Then again, having The Goddess Garden for eight years now, it is a name that many associate me with.
Saturday March 15 5:30-7:30pm Phx AZ $30.00 pre-paid registration required Message me here on tribe for more details. Instructor: Taught by Kahlea Style: Tribal Fusion/Group Improv Experience: Group improvisational experience is recommended Bring: A 12 yard or fuller dance skirt. 12-16 yards is best. 25 yards is too much, 10 yards may not be enough.
Kahlea brings a fresh approach to improvisational tribal group dancing by adding a full skirt to dance tribal with as an eye-catching prop. Referencing a tribal format, for ease of use in group, improvisational dancing, this style is perfect for use in tribal troupes or for solo routines. Flashes of color, a peek of a satiny pantaloon or a whimsical striped sock, all make for smiles among your audience as you “flash” bold streaks of color while doing sassy moves with your skirt. Kahlea adapted this fusion style with influence from Domba’s Tribal Skirt, and added moves derived from Spanish-Flamenco dance, Eastern European folkloric flair (Rromani) and of course, her own feisty influence in some combos. This dance is high energy and fun. NATIUM World Dance has performed this fusion blend for two years running at Tribal Fest, and for years locally in Phoenix Arizona and across California, and she is proud to share how to add this sassy dance style to your dance repertoire. Improvisational Tribal experience is recommended and a 12-16 yard skirt is a must. The appropriate skirts can be found at: On ebay in the Sultry Treasures by Debra store. She offers both 12 and 16 yard skirts. Enter another place and time where world fusion bellydance company, NATIUM World Dance, known for blending various world dance flavors with bellydance, hosts Bohemian Nights, Bellydance Cirque. This showcase of talent takes place in 2008 at The Sets, in Tempe Arizona at 93 East Southern Ave, East of Mill.
As audiences wander in they are greeted with sights, sounds and scents evocative of exotic destinations, worlds away, and of times forgotten. From the lavish decorations from other countries, to the enticing sounds of worlds coming together under one roof, audiences will feel as though traveling to mysterious, foreign lands. Wander through the mini bazaar to barter, haggle and bid on unique objects d’arte from artisans and vagabonds.
Each Bohemian Nights showcase kicks off with a free mini bellydance lesson to familiarize the audience with this art form and to incite excitement for the dance jam later. Then, Bohemian Nights becomes a nighttime showcase of dancers, ranging from student performers showing off what they’ve learned in classes, to semi-professionals desirous of more exposure, to special professional dancer guest stars who will light up the night. Some performers will dance with props such as swords, Chinese fans, fire, veils, skirts and more. This isn’t what Amercians typically see as bellydance, rather this is a “bellydance-cum-circus”, fusing the exotic mesmerizing elements of bellydance with the fantasmical magic of an old time cirque.
After each event, the dance floor opens up for all dancers, whether in the show or in the audience, to get up and take part in an open-floor bellydance soiree, into the night. Performers from the show come out to dance and mingle with the audience and to do a meet and greet. The showcase becomes a party for all to p
