NATTY STRIKE SOUNDSYSTEM was founded in April, 2005 by two reggae DJs, Don Gorgon (Panchevo, SRB) and Argee (Obrenovac, SRB). Before that, we had both already been dealing with reggae music for a few years, mostly on a local level. Don Gorgon mostly worked solo, or in cooperation with Serbia's eldest, well-known reggae soundsystem, Trenchtown Rockers (also from Panchevo), and Argee was a part of Ghetto-Zion soundsystem, which covered not just reggae and dancehall music, but also hip-hop and drum ‘n’ bass. In the period between 2003 and 2006 Argee had his own radio show called “Zion train” at the Obrenovac local radio station.
We were honored to be invited to Macedonia by the local soundsystem, Active Rasta Selectors, twice in 2005. The first time we participated in a mini reggae festival in Skopje, with Active Rasta Selectors and Daqu'i Dub (France) and the second time we had a 3-hours-set at the Coca-Cola Sound Wave Beach Festival at the lake of Ohrid. We got excellent feedback from Macedonian reggae crowd during and after these two shows, Jah bless dem! After Gentleman's concert in Belgrade, Natty Strike sound was playing at the after-party with Trenchtown Rockers and Active Rasta selectors... In March 2007 we had won the 3rd Serbian Reggae Soundclash in club Akademija in Belgrade. In August 2007 we had our show at 1st Una Riversplash Festival in Bihac (Bosnia & Herzegovina) alongside Isiah Shaka, reggae artist from France. Nice vibes we'd created together! Meanwhile, we’ve performed many times in Belgrade, Panchevo, Lazarevac, Obrenovac, and also at the Trenchtown Festival in Subotica alongside our friends and colleagues Trenchtown Rockers, KDC, Rim Runner Selector, Dub Linerz, King Calypso, MC Stephen etc.
We try to select the very best of roots reggae & dancehall, and we usually play tunes that appeal to the two of us in that specific moment, the tunes that would make us feel good. Luckily, the crowd feels that energy and recognizes the positive vibrations we send to them… “You must give love to receive love”.
