About me:

In 1992, Natural Alternatives Salon opened for business in the historic Bearden area of Knoxville. Founding partners, Sandy Hampton and Nica Hampton, chose a 700 square feet studio in Homberg and set-up shop. Motivated by a desire to service clients from a holistic and sustainable point of view, we opened up as the first and only Aveda Concept Salon in Knoxville, Tennessee.


Sandy Hampton is a hairdresser, entrepreneur, trainer, and the first Aveda Purefessional in Knoxville. She has worked to assemble a team of technical experts and trend artists who share our company's philosophy.


Angela (Nica) Hampton, our Operations Manager, has been immersed in quality management classes, as well as intensively studying and implementing salon/spa systems to deliver the quality of service that our clients and employees deserve and desire.


We love the beauty industry and servicing clients can be performed as a "healing art" while giving clients the newest look in hair and make-up. We view this salon/spa industry as an opportunity to better the lives of people by educating and providing non-toxic products and by performing services in a way that preserves the health of the enviornment while providing a real sense of well-being to ourselves and our clients.

Natural Alternatives has now grown from three people and 700 square feet to being the first Aveda Lifestyle location in Knoxville. With three full service spa/salons and Aveda stores, we now are bettering the lives of more than 65 employees and a base of more than 20,000 clients. Utilizing our experience, ongoing training, continuous learning, as well as benchmarking with the best in the industry across the nation for the best business practices, we continue to be leaders in the salon/spa business.





Salon Today Magazine has named Natural Alternatives five years consecutively as being the "Top 200 Fastest Growing Salons in America."


Spafinders Day Spa Guide listed Natural Alternatives as one of twelve "Best Holistic Spas" in the southeast. Most recently, Natural Alternatives was voted by Knoxville News Sentinel reader's poll as one of the "Best Salon."
