The group Nature And Organisation was formed by English composer and musician Michael Cashmore in the early 80's. For several years Michael had been experimenting with a mixture of acoustic instruments, tape recorders and super 8mm film and in 1983 the name Nature And Organisation was first used for a small series of live performances and recordings. The recording of early material was primarily made using a 4 track tape machine with only a small ammount of works recorded in professional studios. It was only much later, in 1994, after Michael had been working with the group Current 93 for several years, that the first proper release was made available. This was the album "Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude" which featured vocals and texts by David Tibet and Douglas P., and vocals by Rose McDowall. This was followed in the same year by the 4 track EP "A Dozen Winters of Loneliness".
After joining Current 93 in 1990 Nature And Organisation became more of a side project for Michael and the final album from the group "Death in a Snow Leopard Winter", a collection of instrumental pieces, was released in 1998.
At the time of writing there are no plans for any further works or any re-issues of earlier works of the group to be made available.
Since the demise of Nature And Organisation in the late 90's Michael continued working with Current 93 and also in 2006 began a series of solo releases which have featured collaborations with Antony (Antony and the Johnsons) and Marc Almond.

"...Black, cold, the surrounding space. Without sound, without a bit of breath. Somewhere far away beyond the borders of the senses, outs of time, you can hear hopelessly long cries, sad, never-ending monotonous song of emptiness. Emptiness fills everything. Even hearts so far full of life now are dead. All overflows undescribed sorrow, starting off where everything was beginning. Amazing black, deep unlimited black. Darkness nothing more, there is no light. Far flare of perspective changes driven every day. The hours, days, months, years are irrelevant. Waiting gradually turned into the reluctance, the reluctance into sadness, sadness into pain. Far strenuous pain, of all colours of grey - the colour black. ..."
"...Czarna, zimna, otaczająca przestrzeń. Bez dźwięków, bez odrobiny tchnienia. Gdzieś daleko poza granicami zmysłów, poza granicami czasu, słychać długi rozpaczliwy krzyk, smutny, niekończący się monotonny śpiew pustki. Pustka wypełnia wszystko. Nawet dawne pełne życia serca są martwe. Wszystko przepełnia nieopisana żałoba, zaczynająca się tam gdzie wszystko miało początek.Niesamowita czerń, głęboka nieograniczona czerń. Ciemność to wszystko, nie ma światła. Daleki rozbłysk perspektywy zmiany napędzał każdy dzień. Godziny, dni, miesiące, lata, to bez znaczenia. Oczekiwanie stopniowo przeradzało się w niechęć, niechęć w smutek, a smutek w ból. Daleki męczący ból, o wszystkich kolorach szarości - kolorach czerni. ..."
