I'd like to think that I am a genuinely nice person--or at least I try to be! I treat others the way I'd like to be treated.
One of my favorite songs at the time is "Precious," not only because it's by one of my all-time favorite bands but because of these lyrics found in it: "Precious and fragile things need special handeling..." Humans are all precious and fragile--it does not matter from what corner of the world you're from, a person's tears caused by pain and suffering are all the same.
We live in an enough hostile world that we don't need to add to its hostility. We need to be less hateful, less critical, and more compassionate towards others. Through globalization and acts of war we are destroying not only livelihoods but the very place we live in--Earth.
In our mad, always-on-the-go, fast-paced daily lives we've forgotten what it's like to stop and smell the roses so-to-speak. Give this a try: A random act of kindness. Whether you hold a door open for someone at the supermarket, help and elder cross the street, smile a friendly hello to whomever you cross paths with, or by buying a homeless person a hot lunch. It'll make you feel better and it will also make someone's day a little more tolerable. You know I am right about this! How many of us have not appreciated the stranger that let us merge into traffic?! Why not do the same for someone else?
So think about it--stop jumping to conclusions in judging others. First, we need to look at our own faults before judging anyone else. I absolutely cannot stand people that lie and who put up a front just to please others. And, with that note, I leave you with this thought: Ones faults are more forgiveable than the means used to cover them up.
