I AM.... Star Nayea. I am a national/international singer/songwriter/recording artist, Native indigenous youth mentor, and youth prevention & wellness facilitator. I LOVE teaching youth all over Turtle Island how to create their own music. It is MY LIFE'S MISSION to HEAL OUR YOUTH FROM THE INSIDE OUT THROUGH MUSIC IF NEED BE, ONE LIFE AT A TIME. THERE IS GREAT STRENGTH IN NUMBERS HOWEVER

IN 2008 I was garnered with a music award for "Song writer of the year". This accolade meant a lot to me, in terms of validating the work I have done for nearly a decade now, with Native Indigenous youth, teens & young adults. When I was their age life for me was extremely unbearable, plain & simple....I am lucky that I made it through!!

Singing and writing songs TRULY saved my life..I pride myself on bringing these beautiful sacred kids Nation wide & into Canada "Healing Through Music"!

This generation of youth are very vocal..They just need more positive outlets!! Besides being a single Mother to my beautiful son, and singing Nationally on stage anywhere that will have me.

Inspiring, Motivating, Mentoring, Cultivating and Teaching youth how to express themselves through music IS MY PASSION & MISSION IN MY LIFE!!

Regardless if they want to do it for a living or not..IT IS A HEALTHY FORM OF RELEASE.. A form of communication where there IS none!

I should know.. These youth today, in so many ways bare mirror image of myself back then.. Sadly some are or have been extremely abused as I was, or neglected. Or they being shipped from home to home because of alcohol problems that exist in the adults who are supposed to be taking care of them..

Some youth today are feeling so lost, some are searching so desperately answer and attracting the for wrong kind of attention..Some youth, incredibly do not want attention any more.

They just want to leave this life..I AM DESPERATELY REACHING OUT TO LET THEM KNOW ITS GOING TO BE ALL RIGHT! ITS PAINFUL OUT THERE IN SO MANY WAYS...Nothing is worth losing your life over it..You can & WILL survive it!

I want to lift them and help them down from that ledge, to show them UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! Show them how to better communicate what, and how they feel they cannot speak of. In my opinion and from my own experience.. What better way then to do so, through song writing or poetry...Im not a perfect person, or a perfect Mother.. I, like every human being am full of flaws..However I PRAY every morning to be guided in a better way! I have made and will make mistakes along the way.. Better to grow from these mistakes than to claim perfection... However one mistake I pray to never make is to become like my adopted family from Michigan who raised me with roof over my head, clothes on my back food to eat & clean water to bathe in, What was missing you may ask? LOVE!! I answer!! Nothing but fear,and dysfunction existed there. Any laughter that arose were false, always bearing conditions that usually meant someone was drinking. My Adopted Mother & Father attempted to be parents, but failed miserably. Instead they were subconsciously molding me into a highly dysfunctional young woman I became who would l grow to have children of her own. One she did not prepare for, the second she was not nearly ready for nor did I feel I deserved him.

ABUSE, NEGLECT, EMOTIONAL, SPIRITUAL, CULTURAL, DISRESPECT...I PRAY TO NEVER abuse or neglect my own son...I will do everything humanly possible to make a difference out there! All while learning myself as I continue to lead my sober lifestyle how to be a good Mother, sister, friend, mentor, teacher, maybe one day a wife..

MOST OF ALL, TO BE A GOOD HUMAN BEING. Sacrifice is a given, however retaining your human integrity, compassion within that daily sacrifice is the key...So I will go forward with High hopes for the rest of 2009..I PRAY FOR ALL MY RELATIONS!!! AHO! CHI-MIIGWETCH, BAAMAAPI!
