Politics, politics, politics. How about C-span for relaxation? (kidding..)
Music
I used to play the violin and the piano and still love jazz, country, classical music - and especially opera.
Movies
With the campaign going 24/7, haven't seen too many movies this year. Really liked Michael Clayton (anything with George Clooney!) and Charlie Wilson's War (anything with Tom Hanks!) - PS, I covered Charlie Wilson in Congress so that was a hoot.
Television
John Adams - the best. Anything on Masterpiece Theater. 30 Rock. Daily Show. Colbert Report. Jim Lehrer NewsHour. Obviously, Nightly News with Brian Williams. Hardball. Countdown. Meet the Press - and the Chris Matthews Show on Sunday mornings. Reruns of Sex and the City. Saturday Night Live.
Books
Pride and Prejudice. The Powerbroker by Robert Caro - The Education of Henry Adams - Portrait of a Lady (Henry James) John Adams (McCullough) - Franklin and Eleanor (Joe Lash) - the Age of Jackson (Arthur M Schlesinger Jr) - Franklin and Winston (Jon Meacham)
Heroes
My producers! More seriously, Daniel Patrick Moynihan who lifted the IQ of the Senate just by showing up. Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams because they do it all, and make it look effortless. Betty Ford, a real pioneer for women. David Bloom, whom we lost too soon.
For a political junkie like me, this campaign is amazing -- especially since I've covered both Clintons since before they ever ran for the White House the first time. after watching Hillary Clinton as first lady -- and even being on that famous flight to bosnia -- I'm loving being a witness to history again.
This time, on top of traveling with the candidates and covering the debates, I also have my own show on MSNBC at 1 o’clock every day - where I get to discuss the race with candidates, surrogates, campaign strategists, and our own terrific team. And in addition to our NBC broadcasts, I can give extra background on Morning Joe and Hardball.
It seems incredible, but the first time I covered a national political convention was back in 1972. I started out in Philadelphia reporting on local and state politics before moving to Washington in 1976. And I've covered every administration since Jimmy Carter. So it's fun to compare how things have changed. In fact, I think the use of the internet this year by both Democratic candidates is the most revolutionary change since the Reagan folks transformed campaigns with "direct mail" back in 1980.

We hope the U.K. government can soon and voluntarily endorse our appeal for a United Nations hearing of our charges that Angola is guilty of murder and aggression in Cabinda, and hope that the U.K. delegation at the U.N. can ultimately take the initiative in getting the Cabinda appeal on the agenda! Please dare to read the content of this link and feel free to let us know any related comment or suggestion.
