THIS MONTH’S MUSIC PICKS
WHO'S GONNA SAVE MY SOUL -- Gnarls Barkley -- an attempt to answer the musical question: what makes a Mouse Dangerous? This song is my current obsession -- what an excellent piece of music -- it channels so much of the 60's, the lyrics tell an honest, complicated story -- this gets to you.
BLACK BOOKS -- Nils Lofgren -- Recorded live, the bridge of this song is a tutorial in guitar playing. Its haunting and angry and beautiful.
SUMMER TEETH -- Wilco. Something about the arrival of the warm weather has me listening to this again -- a great, jaunty little song from a great band.
OXFORD COMMA -- Vampire Weekend -- I've followed the progress of this band since they were playing bars here in New York. They didn't play this song during their SNL debut, presumably because they couldn't get around the fourth word in the lyrics.
ODE TO L.A. -- The Ravonettes -- a great, evocative song that channels the Wall of Sound era. Great driving music
AS I WENT OUT ONE MORNING -- Mira Billote -- a folk-y, sleeper re-make of the Dylan song from the I'm Not There soundtrack. Very hooky and gets to you over time.
Hey there, I'm the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, a daily evening news broadcast that you can check out anytime at nightly.msnbc.com.
As time goes on, I'll add some more info about me. But for now, enjoy the music.

Hello Brian, Thanks for the add. Also, great job on Meet The Press. I always enjoy seeing you on TV, whether it be anchoring the Nightly News or appearing as a guest on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Hello Brian Williams my names Adam It's an honor to have you as one of my friends on my space I'm a huge fan of yours and watch you on Tv all the time you are a great news Caster please Comment me back it would mean alot to me Thank you again from Adam.
First, please accept my condolences for the loss of your friend and colleague, Tim Russert. He was a great man, and over the past week, I have been very touched to see that "The NBC Family" isn't just a snappy network catchphrase, but clearly, a very accurate feeling amongst all of those at NBC News. This is a rare and heartwarming thing to see not only in journalism, but in network broadcasting.
I always enjoy your reporting tremendously -- well done!
Yours, Honore E. The Etiquette Grrls
PS: I remember quite a while ago a woman wrote in to complain about your ties. (?!) Personally, I think you're a very snappy dresser!
Its must have been hard but you did a fine job today as moderator. We'll never know how Tim might have interviewed asking the same questions. But I bet he was tuning in too with thumbs up. I look forward to Tom filling in till November. But there will always be an empty chair. I had not made the connection of the ending versions of 'over the rainbow' and the double rainbow over the NBC building and Washington. That could not have been scripted any better. I hope someone can sign Luke to a contract at NBC. It would help us all heal.
Dear Brian Good job on Meet the Press and thank you for ending the show with a look back at the memorial for Tim - he will be missed by us all. Stay strong and keep up the good work.
Brian, I wish to express my condolences in the loss of your great friend Tim Russert. You did well today on MTP...it has to be a difficult thing and you have done it with style and grace.
Tom Brokaw is the perfect choice to fill in for now...in spite of how painful it is for everyone.
Good Job Brian! :) Also, We had a rainbow right over our house Friday and I immediatly thought "Hey thats Tim thanking me for all the kind words threw the past week" : ) IT WAS A AWESOME FEELING!! : )
Hey Brian, we look forward to seeing you host, "Meet the Press," this Sunday, though it is under sorrowful circumstances. We know you'll do Tim proud. Good luck and godspeed.
Thanks for the add! You are the best of the best! A class act! I'll be watching Meet the Press this Sunday. I know it will be difficult, but you'll do great!
Brian, thank you so much for visiting Afghanistan. There are so many soldiers over there who appreciate you reporting of the facts. We love your special reports and we respect you as a journalist.
hi brian, will be in new york for a month for work. my first time where are some good places to explore and would love to see the today show do i need tickets! thanks Jeremie
Thanks for your wonderful comments this afternoon at the televised memorial for Tim, and please convey, as practical, heartfelt thanks to everyone else as well. It was a beautiful tribute, and you made it easier to bear with the great courage you demonstrated in sharing your humor (!) (which was excellent) at such a time. Please accept my condolences on your personal loss, that of your colleague and friend.
I'm glad I had the day off to catch MSNBC this afternoon. Thanks for your presence through all this. "May he be in heaven a hour before the devil knows he's dead", we don't need to say that for Tim because even the devil will let him pass.
So so sorry about losing Tim...He will be missed. It was obvious that his friendship and presence filled and fueled many of you who were close to him...your stories and experiences were priceless for us who enjoyed watching Tim work.
Brian, I am so sorry for your loss. Tim Russert will be missed tremendously, he made such a positive impact on all of our lives. It is so inspiring to see him smiling in every single picture, a man who must have truly understood the meaning and power of life and happiness. My prayers are with you and the entire NBC staff.
Brian, After having a weekend to deal with the news of Tim's death it is still quite difficult to grasp. I would like to give my deepest condolences to you and your colleagues; as well as wish you the best in your struggle to move forward without your "North Star."
