About Me

I have been interested in national politics since I was five years old. My main concerns are the role of the federal government in our daily lives and the role of America in the world. My main ambition as a journalist is to cut through the public relations and find the truth in what politicians are saying and doing.

Thanks Dear Soldier

I give thanks to you dear soldier,
Who stands so firm and brave
While dealing with the fears
You may meet an early grave.

This war was not your choosing
And yet you give your all
To protect our beloved freedom
Lest we should bow and fall

You stand and fight with all your might
For friends and family left at home
You make us proud, we’ll tell you so
When you come marching home.

You fight to free a people
downtrodden and opressed
By a cruel and wicked vulture
Who puts you to the test.

You fight with fiercest pride
At who you are and what you do.
Though sleep deprived and weary
You give of yourself anew.

Your resolve has never faltered
Though often faced with fear of death
Your fellow soldiers count you faithful
Though it be with your last breath.

I could not be more proud
Were you my daughter or my son
For you stand among the very best
Who fight ‘til the battle’s won.

We pray for you dear soldier
That you return to this home shore,
That God will bring you safely home
To live and love once more.

May God bless you, and may God bless America!
HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY 2009

XOXO TERRY

Chris,
You are off base on the abortion question. There are already laws on the books about no federal money for abortions. The Stupak amendment goes much further than that and you know it. You are biased on this issue and if you cannot separate your moral views from what the real issue is ~ making it more and more difficult for women to have control over their LEGAL reproductive rights ~ then perhaps you should recuse yourself from commenting on this issue in the future. I admire you greatly, Chris, but sometimes you are just plain wrong.

Hi Chris,

I've been traveling and missing MSNBC. Regarding health care reform, I know is a huge step for change, but still so much needs to be accomplish to make this right and work for american families. I will continue contributing with my efforts and as citizen to make health care reform a human right and not a priviledge. After posting my comment about CIGNA in your page I had several people sharing their stories with me. I appreciate it and I'm open for anybody that wants to share their experiences. Have a wonderful week.

Chris Matthews, I can't believe you are still up! Amazing. I arrived home a little while ago and you were just coming on with your Special Edition of Hardball. So glad you were still working because I had absolutely no idea who ended up winning in the elections (well, I pretty much knew how Virginia was going to go)
Thank you for your tireless dedication to reporting the important news no matter the hour. You are so passionate when it comes to the truth and the process of how we arrive at the bottom line... the ultimate truth. Loved the Churchill quote. I keep thinking the ultimate truth is on it's way. lol It's been almost one year; we need to get going and at least see some small changes in the right direction. Our bottom line is a long way off.

You must be tired. But you're still as sharp as ever. Get some rest! xx

Why don't Palin and Bush go on tour and speak together. They each want WAY too much money for the fool's wisdom they impart. He could make up new words and she could wink after each one to insure that no audience member is watching or listening to Bush. It's perfect! They could call it "The Tao of Oky Doky Strategerie."
What do you think Chris? I'd pay a dollar to attend.
xx!

PS So How can I work for TIme Magazine? lol You made such a touching point about our men and women who are dying every day over in Afghanistan. How can we ignore the somewhat unsavory motivations behind this fight. Your comparison of the dynamics involved in the power struggle behind our troops fighting over there with the turning of the Rubik's Cube was really quite creative and spot on. I have a feeling we are in for the long haul- a very long and costly travail in which the price is not only our dwindling dollars, but precious American blood.
Take care.

Chris,
I have been working and not able to watch your show this week, but I still come over to your page to read the comments people have written to you.
I would just say one thing about 9/11. For a few days after the tragedy we were all just human beings who were hurting and joined together in our grief as one nation- while the compassion of the world watched and hurt with us. There were no color lines, party lines or picket lines. Why even go to that judgement place to say that there are more Republicans or more Democrats who are truthers? It's ridiculous! No device has yet been invented, no opinion pole taken to tell us whether there are more Republicans following Glen Beck and his ilk, or a few Democrats who still believe that George W. Bush had something to do with the attacks. (Utter nonsense to both of those ideas!
There are people on both sides and in between) the fray of the two parties that have gone off the deep end with conspiracy theories and bunk. I would hope to God that both the Dems and Pubs also have intelligent, compassionate souls who have not forgotten that grief is a human emotion, not a party emotion. Let us get past this divisive talk and move on to work toward finding common ground, not lines in the sand.
Thanks Chris.
xx

Chris, one other thing is you always give credit to the Democrats for being 9/11 truthers. I really don't think that is fair. Many Republicans are 9/11 truthers, probably moreso than Democrats.

I'm hoping a full investigation is done in the case of the presume innocent man from Texas that was put to death by Governor Rick Perry. Somebody needs to ensure errors in the case are exposed and made public. This is serious business. We are dealing with the life of a innocent human being. If the investigations end up showing that any of these discrepancies were overlooked we must hold those responsible. This is my problem with capital punishment, the possibility of errors, lack of fair legal representation that ends up punishing the poor, and is not effective in controlling crime.

Dear Chris,
The book that I wrote about my life, "When you're left behind", I have made into an eBook. Part of the introduction reads, Let's see, I have the greatest family! Have been married to my wonderful husband for twenty-six years. My son is now twenty-five and my daughter is twenty-one. They are all the best of the best, and I love them so very much!!! As for my other interests, cable news. Information, is something I can't get enough of. I'm much like a sports addict, only it's the political talk show for me! While I think it's important to keep up with all the main cable news channels, I especially love Hardball on MSNBC. Chris, now that my book is published, feel free to search on line for it!! The idea that I have in my book to help the educational system, not all will agree with but still the arrow is pointed towards helping the students that are the least among us. My hope is that it can...

You were FABULOUS on Real TIme. And there is nothing wrong with that word either!
You finally were able to get a word in edgewise. Last time P.J. would not stop talking and I had come away from the show wishing that Bill would have interviewed you one on one.
Your proverbial HA! was refreshing too.
I liked what you had to say about Afghanistan. The way you explained Obama's thought process combined with his hawkish advisors; it all made great sense. I think you're right. I think we're going to send in more troops.

So what are the chances that three Irish guys would end up being Bill's guests? Bill himself is half Irish. The big question is, why am I never in the same place as the three Irish guys? lol
No, the big question is, what planet do you think Shandling is from? :)
SO glad Bill had you on tonight. I wish he'd do an interview with just you because the topics tend to go off course on his show when Garry is a guest.
Enjoy your weekend in Los Angeles. We just had rain so you can actually see!
xx
Thanks Chris.

Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Obama "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." Regardless that Obama still has tons to accomplish, I still would like to take the time to commemorate and embrace what has been achieved. America is finally, under Obama, being recognize a part of the international community, and as a diplomatic nation and not as egotistical cowboys, with an appetite to kill. Now, we shall see if Obama will live up to the Nobel Peace Prize expectations. I'm happy for the President.

I live in the New Orleans Metro area. That woman you had on was so inarticulate and uninformed I had to write.
Yes the levee's have to some degree had an effect on the wetlands, but are not the culprit here.
The petroleum companies had sliced and diced the wetlands for their own use, doing more harm than most.
Then of course, The Corpse (as we like to call them here) of Engineers had built a monster called MrGo. From the time of it's planning stages until it acted as the highway for the enormous surge from The Storm to race into the city and caused the flooding and since, the citizens here have protested it. MrGo went a long way to destroying the wetlands and was the cause of the flooding of New Orleans.
Katrina didn't flood New Orleans, The Corpse did.
They resisted closing it, and there it sits still, waiting to enable another surge to hit the pathetic storm walls they have erected instead of the levees.
On top of that the Obama and the Democrats have given pittance towards wetland restoration in their recent budget.
It was said that if the money that was made available to New Orleans after Katrina was about a million dollars per homeowner (or person?), but most of us saw pittance.
I guess the politicians working with their friends the developers were too busy exploiting the situation to notice.
An Independent, I was for Obama, donated to and voted for him. But at this point he is looking like more of the same old, same old.
Why is he even bothering to visit New Orleans, four hours does not even begin to scratch the surface of the ongoing problems here.
And while no fan of Vitter, the reason he will likely be re-elected is because he at least attempts to communicate with his constituents, as opposed to
Mary Mary Quite Contrary

This morning Chris Todd, in response to reactions of youth to having to buy health insurance, compared it to having to buy auto insurance.
One chooses to drive or not, and in places like New York many people never drive. Imposing the demand that all living citizens buy health insurance is a totally different animal.
Instead of having a guy like Todd, who usually adds a lot on issues, perhaps you should have had a young struggling artist or actor for whom a demand that they buy health insurance would have a very different outlook.
This will be an onus to those who are not living as comfortably as Chris Todd.
Or asking those of us who have had our lives destroyed, or been screwed after disasters like Katrina or those who have suffered from the cleanup of the WTC to be forced to give money to those Evil, Greedy Bastards is Change We Cannot Believe In.
If this becomes law, The Evil Empire Death Panel Industry should give the Democrats a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Who would have thought that Obama and friends would become insurance salesmen.
Beyond belief!

hi chris. i've had to take a break from the internet for a while to deal with my own downward slide in life. currently unemployed because of the california state budge crisis and currently battling my insurance company for "quality of life" issues that really don't rank in the grand scheme of things, i've learned how quickly things can turn. i tell my husband we are all one major illness or accident away from homelessness. yeah, i am one of the insured -- or should i say UNDER-insured. when i really NEED this insurance, which has again changed hands, i am sure i'll but up the creek without a paddle. i am proud of wendell potter for getting out there in force about the situation these days. good for him! keep putting the pressure on these guys.

if anyone can tell me that a "free market" can exist with a conscience, then i'll buy into that line of thinking. what i see now is far from conscience. the system needs an overhaul and when you go about "fixing" it you must fix a lot of things that are all wound up in the ball of doo-doo that is the current system. yeah, i guess re-regulating a lot of things would be a good start. leaving people to their own devices has not worked. people can't seem to overcome the drug called GREED!

Chris, I truly believe President Obama (and John McCain) are secretly the cause of our financial collapse. President Bush was a free market guy. He made that no secret. When you have two people running for President saying they want to drastically reshape the economy, free marketer's were skeptical. I love how the media made no mention of President Bush being the first President to have an MBA. But that is what my feeling is. Why do you think Obama's rhetoric changed from being so negative about the economy to positive? He knew his rhetoric was harmful.

P.S.- Love your show, Tell Keith Olbermann he looks like the guy in the Orbitz's commerical.
