    Chuck's Interests
GeneralAll of my interests these days begin and end with my two kids, Margaret and Harrison. Margaret loves soccer, so now I do; Margaret loves sticker books and painting so now I do… you get the drift… But I still can't avoid a pack of baseball cards when I see them in a drug store; I love reading about U.S. history and hate that I don't have the time to devote to non-current events reading right now that I used to. I used to love golfing… check that, I do love to golf but haven't done it much thanks to this never-ending presidential campaign and birth of my second child.

About me:

Chuck Todd

About Me

I've been with NBC since the Spring of 2007. Before venturing into television, I spent nearly 15 years covering campaign politics for The Hotline, a publication under the National Journal umbrella. As leader of The Hotline, I'd like to think I helped keep the publication into what was a must read for political professionals and junkies alike. I'm a political numbers geek; My first beat at The Hotline was House races which I'd argue is the single best way to get started in covering campaign politics. If you become a House race expert, it's easy to be an expert about politics on any other level. House races are the weeds where the trendlines are first spotted.

I grew up in Miami (born and raised; a rarity in Miami, I know); I came to DC to get into politics, ideally (I thought) to some day run a presidential campaign. But as they sort of say, those who can't in politics become members of the media. So now I backseat drive campaigns for a living and I love it.

The political statistical side of my brain is probably also the home of my sports fanaticism which begins with Miami Hurricane football (I'm rabid about it); I have season tickets and try to make it back for a game or two; it was tough in 2007 to get back to the old Orange Bowl and I imagine I'll struggle to find a Saturday to escape to Miami this fall. Still, I'll try. After the Hurricanes comes the Dodgers (remember I grew up in Miami when the only pro sports franchise we had was the Dolphins, a team my father taught me to hate). I bleed Dodger blue and hate the fact they will no longer train in Florida; that's how I grew up seeing them, Spring at Dodgertown. After the Dodgers come the Packers (adopted passion from my late father). I was a Packer fan when it wasn't cool; I'll never forget my first Packer game; It was against the Dolphins in '78… some rookie WR named James Lofton scored the only Packer points. Most searing memory of that game? Some bald Packer fan who had painted his head to look like a helmet; as a 6yo, I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

You're the best, Chuck. That was great unbiased analysis regarding the presidential candidates that you gave today after Obama's speech.

Mr. Chuck Todd... saw you on Meet the Press Sunday morning... great job!

One thing I hate about the weekends is the lack of newscasts!!There needs to be news on MSNBC 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Screw this "Lock-Up" Raw Documentaries... I NEED NEWS!!!!!

Thanks for the add. You analysis has helped my stepson, who is about to enter the eighth grade, start to understand politics. He asks questions after seeing your analysis. It creates a good discussion with him that I know he will remember for a long time.

i understand that meet the press has a tall order in filling tim russert's shoes, but i can't tune into meet the press with bias overtones, it dimishes everything that i loved about tim's journalism. tom's a great dude but his bias too evident, brian williams succeeded at keeping it unbiased, can we have him back!

Keep up the great work Chuck. I'm really looking forward to the general and your analysis of what will surely be an epic election. Your opinion is one that I deeply value and often agree with because you keep it logical and basic. But Chuck, put North Carolina at least in the light red. It's turning blue for Obama in November.

Thanks for the add, Chuck! I absolutely love your analysis on MSNBC. You're the best. Keep up the good work.

I wish you had a standing segment in the late afternoon or evening, as I'm too bleary-eyed in the mornings when you're on Morning Joe. :) But I record it, so it's all good...

Some Still Stand

We have many men and women
in a war, this day.
Should or shouldn't ~ it's been
a long, long, way.

Our loved ones have and are
facing disaster there,
In a far away and evil country.
We keep them in prayer.

Many have been slain for a far away
land of greed;
Hostile to our sweet Jesus,
planting bad seed.

We love and respect all and urge
them to together band.
Many have died there.
But, some still stand.

No matter the violence,
our troops will be,
Always, together in thought
~ in harmony.

Blest be them and their
families, at home.
Some will come back,
never more to roam.

We have the best in the world there,
all contend;
Favored by America and most other,
at hand.

So many have fallen; heroes with God,
at rest.
So many families, for safety,
have given their best.

God bless America and our
neighbors about.
Pray for our people to stand up
and shout.

Many are still ready to give their life.
Give them a hand.
Many have died a hero's death.
But, some still stand.

Chuck, you are one of two that i waited for to tell about the numbers, and nd Tim will be missed because he was the next person. I can tell you that you seem to have the same professional qualities like him, is is what we need in television media...so i think if Tim was here he would tell you..."KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK"
I know you are saddened by the sudden loss...we all are and i will forever miss Meet The Press. Always reflect on the advice and guidance that Tim gave to you as he had alot of confidence in you. So way to go!!!

Oh and about you in the backseat drive of campaign....no no no...just like Tim said florida florida florida....you are who you are and you do what you do very well and as far as i am concerned ...YOU DRIVE THAT CAMPAIGN BUS and you are admired.
Have a good day.
