I love hockey and baseball. My favorite team in the NHL is the Detroit Red Wings. My favorites in MLB are; American League - Detroit Tigers; National League - Chicago Cubs. I'm a huge Tarheel fan and live for Carolina Basketball.
I also like to ride my motorcycle when I have free time. Nothing like the wind in your face on a country road to help you forget all that is going on. It's just you and the wind.
I also love history and anything that relates to it. I do a lot of POW/MIA research. Growing up during the 60s, I am most familiar with the Vietnam War. I am also very involved with politics. If you don't vote, it's telling our soldiers past, present, and future that their service does not matter.

Music
Being a former Army musician, I have an appreciation for all types of music. It really depends on what kind of mood I'm in. I especially love jazz and big band music. But nothing beats what I grew up with, classic rock.
One of my dreams is to conduct the Armed Forces Medley at the National 4th of July Concert in Washington, DC with the National Symphony Ochestra, then sitting back and watching the fireworks during the 1812 Overture.

I am a POW/MIA activist. Over the past twenty years, it has been an honor to work with the different organizations I belong to assisting our POW/MIAs and their families.
I am a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, qualifying with the Korea Defense Service Medal. I was appointed in 2007-08 as NC State POW/MIA Chairman and the National POW/MIA Committee.
Since 2004, I have enjoyed working as the NC State Coordinator for the National League of POW/MIA Families in Washington, DC. The League was formed in May 1970 and is responsible for the POW/MIA flag you see today. The League's mission is "the fullest possible accounting of all recoverable remains from Southeast Asia." We also work to spread public awareness about the POW/MIA issue and lobby Congress to ensure policy is kept in place to account for America's missing servicemembers.
Our POW/MIAs and their families need your help. Become aware and educated, write letters to your elected officials and local newpapers asking for the fullest possible accounting of all recoverable remains from all wars. Remind them this is a humanitarian mission, not a military one. Each letter sent and received provides more hope for our missing heroes and their families.
You may view my blog that is updated with daily news of the POW/MIA issue from around the world at The NC Department of POW/MIA Affairs. There you may subscribe to daily updates via email.
America is the home of the free because of the brave. It is our responsibility to keep the promise America makes each of our soldiers, to leave no one behind.
Become informed. Become involved. Become a POW/MIA advocate.
Who I'd like to meet: Roy Williams, any Detroit Red Wing, President Bush, the Pope, any returned POW, any family member of a MIA/KIA.
Remembering all those that have served beneath our nations flag and given greatly of themselves. Today and always remembering a young Marine from my son’s Battalion LCpl. Jordan C. Haerter... and all who loved him.
From the halls of Montezuma, To the shores of Tripoli; We fight our country's battles In the air, on land, and sea; First to fight for right and freedom And to keep our honor clean; We are proud to claim the title Of United States Marine. Our flag's unfurled to every breeze From the dawn to setting sun; We have fought in every clime and place Where we could take a gun; In the snow of far-off northern lands And in sunny tropic scenes; You will find us always on the job The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve; In many a strife we've fought for life And have never lost our nerve; If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes; They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.
