Reign Over Me was a cool movie. Kinda sad, but I enjoyed it. The city always seems to live at the extremes for me, it's full of people and big and dangerous, but late at night or early in the morning it's incredibly peaceful. Muggings ruin peace.
OK, so I'm getting old in my old age, cuz apparently that's a big fat lie: I just posted on Daubert's page 2 days ago. (So, apparently you're not that special after all - that or my memory sucks). I still think it is overblown, but based on this and my own readings of SI and other sports mags, I think it is important that the government gets involved.
As with most legislation, I wish there was more press and movement for education and less press and movement for punishment. The old proactive vs. reactive standpoint. It's like, "Okay. These idiots used steroids. Fact. Now, how do we prevent this from being the future of sports/society."
I know it's not an either/or thing, too, and partly say this for dramatic effect, but the media (who is my true enemy, I think) paints them as important as each other, and I disagree that Roger Clemens is as important as an unjust war. I agree that the effect may be very good from this congressional "vigilance" but I, like you, wish consistency would prevail and justice blanket a multitude of issues, not just sports.
I'm not a huge sports guy, which also biases me, except NASCAR. I love NASCAR and recently discovered that the pit crews are going to start being tested for steroids because they need to be such powerful athletes. It's a crazy world we live in.
So i think it would be really fun if all the cousins could spend time together this holiday. I was thinking a sun dinner at my house and then people could stay here depending on schedules. I would love if bethany could come too, but I do not know her schedule for the holidays. So I am going to try to put it all together in the next couple of days. Let me know how you feel. We got stuck in the traffic jam caused by the incident. I know the guy hit a police officer with his car, and while I think deadly force may not have been my decision it is the way he was trained. Apparently he had a long history of violent/intoxicated driving. There really hasn't been anything else released yet though. Fredericksburg.com has running stories.
