O magnify Jehovah with me, you people, and let us exalt his name together.—Ps. 34:3.
On the night of Nisan 14, 33 C.E., Jesus and his apostles sang Jehovah’s praises together in an upper room of a house in Jerusalem. (Matt. 26:30) It was fitting that he would conclude his meeting with them in that way. From the beginning of his earthly ministry to the end, Jesus praised his Father and zealously made His name known. (Matt. 4:10; 6:9; 22:37, 38; John 12:28; 17:6) After singing praises with Jesus, the apostle John saw his Master and two criminals being put to death on torture stakes. Roman soldiers broke the legs of the two criminals to hasten their deaths. However, they did not break Jesus’ legs, as he was already dead. In his Gospel, John identified that development as a fulfillment of another part of Psalm 34: “Not a bone of his will be crushed.”—John 19:32-36; Ps. 34:20, Septuagint. w07 3/1 1:1, 2
Let [your adornment] be the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible apparel of the quiet and mild spirit, which is of great value in the eyes of God.—1 Pet. 3:4.
As Peter emphasized, it is not so much what a wife says but what she does that produces positive results. (1 Pet. 3:1, 2) This was illustrated by a wife who learned Bible truths and was determined to attend Christian meetings. “Agnes, if you go out that door, don’t come back in!” her husband shouted. She did not go out “that door” but, rather, another one. The next meeting night, he threatened: “I won’t be here when you come back.” Well, he was not—he was gone for three days. When he returned, she kindly asked: “Would you like something to eat?” Agnes never budged in her devotion to Jehovah. Her husband eventually accepted a Bible study, dedicated his life to God, and later served as an overseer with many responsibilities. w07 2/15 2:14, 15
