National Dance Week at JCAL's Interests
|
| General | This year, JCAL will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of middle eastern dance and music with classes in Belly Dance, Egyptian folkloric dance, and Arabic music.
We welcome Zikrayat as our guest master artists. On May 3, members of the Zikrayat ensemble will teach classes in Egyptian Belly Dance, Improvisational Belly Dance, Dancing with Veils, and Dancing to Drum Solos. The day will end with a concert by Zikrayat. Check back for more details!!! | | Music | Zikrayat, of course!!!!! | | Movies | Zikrayat's own Damshe recommends musicals from the golden age of Egyptian cinema, especially films starring Samia Gamal, Naima Akef, and Taheyya Karioka. | | Television | Forget TV, let's discuss the NDW at JCAL scedule for 2008!!
2:00-3:30- Introduction to Dancing with Veils
2:00-3:30- Drum Solo Dance
4:00-5:30- Introduction to Egyptian Style Belly Dance
4:00-5:30- Mastering Improvisational Belly Dance
6:30-8:00- Zikrayat performance
Pricing:
2 class pass= $25 in advance, $30 day of
2 class pass plus performance= $30 in advance, $35 day of
single class= $15
Performance= $10, $8 for students/seniors
