The project currently is Neal Paisley on vocal and ukulele, Mike Lawler on sax, piano, bass, and producer. Writing is done by Neal and Mike. Others that appear with us will be given due credit.
Influences
My ukulele influences are, in order of wanting to be like: Azo Bell, Craig Robertson, and James Hill.
Musical influences throughout life? Allman Brothers, Rick Weinman, a fabulous Milwaukee guitar player and friend who I haven't seen in over 30 years, and Chris Whitley, a great singer, player that died too young, and not of a drug overdose.
Continuing influences, Ukulelezaza, Azo, and Mike Lawler, our sax player and a fine musician.
Sounds Like
Some have said Leon Redbone, someone told me that I brought memories of Al Green and John Hiatt heck, I don't know, I sound like myself, Mike Lawler sounds like a great sax player, and we play a jazzy/bluesy kind of music. I'd love to sound like Chris Whitley, RIP.
Born in Youngstown, most of my life in Milwaukee, the youngest (and most talented..hah!) of 3, father of 1, grandfather of 2, ex-husband to 2, present husband to 1, 2 cats, 1 dog, a few ukes and guitars, and, don't worry, I have a day job.
Thank you for the add! And YES! Your german sentence was right, your German is still excellent!:-) Greetings to wonderful Wisconsin (I was in Milwaukee in 2006) from Germany,
Wow, Neal...thank you so much for your kind remarks...I'm hoping to get some tunes up soon...day job is kinda kickin' my derrière, but I'm not complaining... more money = more ukuleles! ;-)
Neal! Hey! Good to work with you again at Kavarna Uke Night! Wish you the best and hope to see you there next year! Don't forget I'll be at Riverwest Commons on the 29th. Andy Thiel will be playing half the night! He's on my friends here too.
Hi Neal, Thanks for the Friendship. I love your music! I have a ukulele I've been meaning to learn to play - you'll be an inspiration! Well Wishes, Nina
